Well there is the 1970s theme... but likely you would have had friends who have already done that in birthdays past - it's pretty common.
You could do a more specific theme from the 1970s such as Disco or Hippy or musicians.
Otherwise you could do Survive 35 - and have gift bags/survival kits for everyone of silly things that help you keep young (ie excersize mat, moisturisers, etc)
35 Jive - you could have a latin dance themed party
35 Drive - a car trip to somewhere? Or a limo trip around the city... etc
'How sweet you seem at 35' (rolling stones lyrics) - do a dessert themed party
'Ballad at 35' (song by carla bruni) - maybe go do kareoke or something?!
