Christmas Gift List....?

Olivia

Hello People,
Christmas is on it's way, and I'm getting into the spirit a bit early...
I need to get everyone gifts, of course, but I don't know what, and no one will give me a straight answer.
Could you guess what they would want based on these descriptions, please?
Brother: 9 years old, loves everything technological, bought his own ipad, flatscreen tv, google tv, ipod, psvita, etc...
Stepmother-33, loves gardening and movies
Dad-44, loves everything technological, movies, and cooking. I was thinking of getting him slippers, but he just got a pair...
Mom-46, realtor, always grumpy, loves reading the news...
Cousin-boy, 14, loves video games, tennis, biking, and technology...
Cousin-boy, 14 (they're twins), loves video games, tennis, biking, and a spy tv show...(it's called Nikita, if you know what that is.)
Aunt-49, loves dogs, jewlery making, gardening...
Uncle, 50 (i think), loves sports and cooking...
Aunt, 48, editor for the denver post, loves long walks, and her dogs
Uncle, 50 (i think), loves biking, handyman work, works as an english teacher at a highhschool...
Grandma, 87, pack rat. loves dogs...
Grandpa, 85, recently diagnosed with stage 4 prostate cancer, (this is very likely my last christmas :-( with him ever), he loves to do things. literally, he walks everywhere, built his own boat, put a solar roof on his house, etc...I want to get him something amazing, but i don't have any ideas...a simple idea could help me come up with something.
Grandma, 79, lives in portugal, makes her own jam, very good at bruising herself accidentally, has tons of fruit bushes...
Me- I don't really know what I want, but an idea for the list would be great. I'm 14, Have 4 dogs, love art, dance, and music, love to read (harry potter is my FAVORITE!!), i'm going to be an architect and/or lawyer when I grow up and want to go to harvard...

An idea or two for each person would be awesome!! I'll answer your questions if you link to them :-)
please give serious and thought out answers.
Thank You!!!!
<3,
OB

Gift for a 40th surprise birthday?

spintool

I've always been of firm belief that adults don't give other adults birthday presents, except maybe a joke gift. But the guy's wife (my wife's cousin) has made it known gifts are expected. I think its rude, and I refuse to attend unless we don't bring a gift. My wife is mad and wants to buy a real gift and go. What do people think?

Answer
Just buy a gift a go. If not for them, for your wife. If this is effecting your personal life, it's not worth it to keep fighting it. Your wife's happiness is way more important than your rude friend.

But for the record, I totally agree. I think it would be incredibly rude to expect someone to bring presents to a party for an adult.

However, on the other hand, it is a "milestone" party and perhaps they dont usually have birthday parties or require gifts at the party?
Just a thought.

Gifts for a 40 year old mom?

One True A

my mommy is 40 years old and i have no idea what to get her for christmas she already has all of rachel rays cooking sets and 104 piece knife set(i hate being around that) I have no idea what i am going to get my mommy she was looking at a Coffee maker but im afraid she is going to buy it!

ps she watches food netword everyday and prints theresipies so i cant buy a cook book
also my mom and dad are flight attendants
ps one of the gifts i am manking her is a latch hook pillow

Answer
WOW!!!

What a wonderful daughter you are ... I'm sure your mom and dad are very proud of you!

The latch hook pillow is an excellent, personalized gift -great decision there.

A few no-cost (other than time) ideas for Christmas gifts:

(1) Make a series of cards 3-5 (use the computer for designs) and include a "special" gift -in the form of a note- in each one... for example:

a) Breakfast in bed for your mom on a Saturday or Sunday after the holidays

b) A foot massage after she returns from a particularly long flight.

c) A weekend morning where you and your mom enjoy some breakfast at a local cafe so that you can simply talk with each other.

d) A free car-wash for when the weather gets warmer.

e) Reading one chapter of her favorite book -aloud to her.

f) A clean-one-room-of-the-house coupon that your mom can cash in to you whenever she wants.

g) A pick-out-a-recipe coupon where your mom asks you to cook a favorite meal or bake a favorite dessert.

h) A promise to take a walk around the block with mom ... holding hands.

I believe you get the picture ... have fun doing whatever you decide to do for your mom -you're a special young girl. Enjoy!

No birthday gift = no christmas gift. Is it fair?

deetrosa

My boyfriend of 2 years did not get me a birthday present this year (it was in September). I asked for a horseback riding trip that ended for the year about a week after my birthday. He said he would take care of booking it....but just didn't. And I never got anything to replace it.

So I am not planning on getting him a christmas gift this year, even though he already said he got me one. I know it sounds petty, but I have no desire to be the bigger person; I want him to feel how I felt.

Curious to know what others would do in my position

Answer
Gift giving should never be a "tit-for-tat" thing. You give because you WANT to give.

But it is only a human thing to fall into doing so. I have had BF's who simply do not give gifts, and I have stopped giving them gifts. You are desiring revenge, and it is never a good motive, nor building block for a good relationship. If this is part of it, then my suggestion is to start considering getting rid of the jerk.

And in that case, NOT giving any gifts to him would be a normal part of a NON-relationship.

Have a polite day.

christmas gift giving, it is right?

mature me

it is right to still include my ex in my gift giving list? i always make sure that all my children have gifts this coming christmas. I used to include my ex before since i was not involved with anyone else. but now that i got married, am wondering if it still right to give gift to the ex? will it be a problem and will you feel hurt if you are the current spouse?

Answer
does the gift say from you and the kids or just you?

Your remarried so really, you shouldnt give your ex a gift... unless you do it because you know if you dont he gets basically zilch. You could speak to your current husband about it.... if your married I suspect he has been in your life since last christmas... what did you do then? have you been hiding it from your current?

It really all depends on your motive for giving the ex a gift. If its a genuine platonic gift giving thing because you feel he doesnt get much, thats probably okay.... but if you still have feelings for him (he is the father of your children and you did love him at one time) then no, you shouldnt be giving him gifts if your remarried, thats not a nice thing to do to current husband.

If it were me... I would not be buying him gifts from me... I would do it in the name of the kids... and let them pick the presents out as well.... he is their dad... and regardless of how you both feel about one another now, you were in love at one time, you made a family... we cant pretend these things didnt happen.... for the kids we have to remain civilized and respectful of one another....

Given that there are inner worlds and outer worlds...is it remotely possible that there could also be...?

Q. Two sides to everything else?

Could chakras be dual in nature?

Must all things exist in balance?
Sunman: Yes! Like the "teeter totter", and the "swing set" and the "merry-go-round"....all things remain in motion, but are they not also balanced?

Answer
If you believe that Sex between a Man and a Woman is the greatest gift, then the answer to your question is yes.

The religions (those that I have looked into their mysticism) that share this view are many and varied, but they all share a common theme; that a prolonged mutual orgasm is the gateway to the Divine.

Coitus reservatus http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Coitus_reservatus
Coitus reservatus (coitus, "sexual intercourse, union" + reservatus, "reserved, saved")[1] , is commonly thought of as a form of sexual intercourse in which the man does not attempt to ejaculate within his partner, but instead attempts to remain at the plateau phase of intercourse for as long as possible avoiding the orgasm and seminal emission (however, as in prepuberty, a male may achieve orgasm without any seminal emission, known as a dry orgasm).[2] Another term used for this kind of relationship is the word karezza.

The word Karezza is generally believed to be derived from the Italian word "carézza" meaning "caress." However, Alan W. Watts believed it was a Persian word.[3] Alice Bunker Stockham coined the word karezza and is akin to maithuna in Buddhist Tantra and Sahaja in Hindu Yoga.[4]

The Rosicrucians have used "coitus reservatus" or "karezza" as an esoteric practice. The practice of "coitus reservatus" with vestal virgins during the first four centuries of Christianity descended as a tradition to the Cathars.

Some views on coitus reservatus
English novelist Aldous Huxley, in his last novel Island wrote that Maithuna, the Yoga of Love is... "the same as what Roman Catholicism means by coitus reservatus.[14] Getting to the point by discussing coitus reservatus, Alan W. Watts in Nature, Man and Woman notes: "...I would like to see someone make a case for the idea that the Apostles really did hand down an inner tradition to the Church, and that through all these centuries the Church has managed to guard it from the public eye. If so, it has remained far more secret and "esoteric" than in any of the other great spiritual traditions of the world, so much so that its existence is highly doubtful...[15] The Welsh writer Norman Lewis, in his celebrated account of life in Naples in 1944, claimed that San Rocco was the patron saint of coitus reservatus: "I recommended him to drink -- as the locals did -- marsala with the yolk of eggs stirred into it, and to wear a medal of San Rocco, patron of coitus reservatus, which could be had in any religious-supplies shop".[16] Coitus reservatus was admittedly part of the teachings of the Catholic church regarding sexual intercourse and was generally a permitted form of intercourse but was subject to the same arguments as coitus interruptus.[17]

The psychologist Havelock Ellis writes: "Coitus Reservatus, - in which intercourse is maintained even for very long periods, during which the woman may have orgasm several times while the man succeeds in holding back orgasm, - so far from being injurious to the woman, is probably the form of coitus which gives her the maximum gratification and relief".[18]

The Oneida Community, founded in the nineteenth century by John Humphrey Noyes experimented with coitus reservatus which was then called male continence in a religiously Christian communist environment. The experiment lasted for about a quarter of a century and then Noyes went on to create Oneida silverware and establish the Oneida Silver Co. that grew into Oneida Limited.[19]

The idea of "coitus reservatus" is not unknown in Islam. Tradition tells how the Prophet Mohammed practiced it to preserve his vitality.[20]

What is a good anniversary gift?

lovestruck

I have been with my amazing boyfriend for 2 years now and we decided to make each other something or to spend a little money on each other. I want to do something fun to surprise him on our anniversary but I want to think of something original and well since I have not been able to do that I need some help!! PLEASE!

Answer
Congratulations on your second anniversary. Whether you are celebrating the anniversary of a dating relationship or a marriage, you are probably looking for the one-of-a kind gift that will show him how much you care. You can look to the many websites that offer overpriced, impersonal and unoriginal "anniversary gifts," or you can think outside the box and find an affordable alternative that puts the focus on the love you share.

Make Your Gift
Make your own gift for a truly romantic second anniversary. The way to many a man's heart is through his stomach. Surprise your guy with a gourmet breakfast in bed. Cook his favorite meal or bake his favorite dessert. Make a batch of two dozen cookies, one cookie for each month you have been together.

If cooking is not your forte, write him a poem or create a scrapbook or photo collage documenting the previous two years of your relationship. Consider compiling your favorite love songs on a mix CD or tape. Show him how much you care with homemade gift certificates for things like massages, watching the movies he loves but you hate, and any chores around the house that he would love to skip.

Pick Out Cotton
Follow tradition and give your significant other a gift made from cotton. Cotton is the customary gift for a second wedding anniversary, but you don't have to be married to use this idea. Consider a plush monogrammed bathrobe, sexy boxers or a crisp new dress shirt. Enjoy snuggling in the outdoors with a hammock for two.

Think about your guys' interests. Does he have a favorite sports team? Give a team blanket for two so you can snuggle under the covers while you watch the game together. Maybe he's a video gamer or a music buff. Look for clothing or bedding with his favorite character or band displayed. If he's an artist or writer, give him a notebook of cotton paper to use for his creative outlet.

Take A Trip
Plan a special trip to celebrate your anniversary. Go away for just a day or take an inexpensive weekend vacation, depending on your budget. For a day trip, consider visiting a nearby lake, nature reserve, museum or amusement park or catch a play, concert or sporting event in a nearby town. Impress your guy by recreating your first date or any particularly memorable time together from the past two years.

Go camping for the weekend instead of booking a hotel. Plan activities ahead of time to avoid wasting time or getting frustrated trying to figure out what to do. Pack food to cook over the fire and don't forget the marshmallows, chocolate bars and graham crackers for s'mores. Bring a book of poetry to read, music to dance to under the stars, or a romantic movie to watch on your laptop or portable DVD player.

Wedding Anniversary Gift Idea?

Ikie

It's my sisters first wedding anniversary is coming up. What are some possible gifts I could get her? Price limit is $100.

Thanks,
Ikie

Answer
The traditional 1st anniversary gift is paper. So, personalized stationery with both the couples' names, or for just her with her married name (check out Crane & Co.). Or, you could do playing cards (made of paper, so...) from Tiffany & Co. and the gift tag can say "You played your cards right! Happy Anniversary!" of course you're not obligated to give them an anniversary gift but it's a very thoughtful idea. A really great site for unique and beautiful gifts is Layla Grayce, they have a lot of pretty stuff and I'm sure you can find something for her there. Or for both of them if you would prefer that. Also look through Red Envelope.com and Uncommon Goods.com for ideas if you still need them.

gift idea for friend turning 40?

Jackie N

inundated in sf.... thanks!!! perfect!!! lots of great ideas i can use. thanks!!!

Answer
Depends on what the friend likes and how much you are willing to pay. A girl might like a day at the spa. Or if she normally gets a manicure someplace, call that place to see if they sell gift certificates (and buy her a couple months worth of manicures). If there's a designer accessory she's been mooning about, get her that. Almost anything from Tiffany's is acceptable--or so I've been told. You could buy her a night in penthouse suite of the best hotel in town, complete with massage and dinner, champagne, bubble bath... You could give her plane tickets to somewhere she's always wanted to go to. Actually, when my sister turned 40, she got 3 friends together (who were also turning 40), they all told their husbands they were spending 2 weeks in Italy, they rented a villa (off season so it wasn't excessively expensive) and an Italian sports car and they went. Spent the 2 weeks touring (day trips) and eating and just being mature women on the loose (they all love and are dedicated to their husbands so no hanky panky (look but that's all)). Kind of made turning 40 painless and an actual celebration of being female alive and still looking good.

For a guy (for a gal too), you might want to get him tickets to his favorite sports team. A very large flat screen tv. A swanky red sports car. Oh, my mom gave my brother a day at the races--there's a car race track here where you can pay to learn how to drive a race car and race around a track for a few hours. They also have a place around here you can pay to go into this thing and go weightless. They have this wind tunnel you can do that makes you feel you are sky diving but without the parachutes. A trip to Rio.

Ideas for a graduation gift?

Jenna K

Im graduating from high school in 2 months and my parents told me to pick something... anything... i dont want it to be too pricey and i dont want to take advantage of them... what is a reasonable, ideal graduation gift? I will give 10 points best answer!!!

Answer
Found this, Should be helpful:

Gifts according to your sign:
Aries (March 21 - April 19)
Active Aries is always looking for ways to stay in shape, particularly during the holiday season... so athletic equipment is usually a good choice. People born under this sign are also fond of the color red, so a cranberry scarf or a scarlet hat could win their favor. If romance is in the air, let Aries know that you put his or her needs first. Buy tickets for two to a sporting event you loathe... or a CD by an artist you can't stand... to win big points with your favorite Ram.

Taurus (April 20 - May 20)
Taurus appreciates any gift that appeals to his or her sensual side. A box of gourmet chocolates, a richly colored tapestry or a soft cashmere blanket are all great options for Bulls. This sign also enjoys having money to play with, so a gift certificate to their favorite store is a welcome option. Always remember that quality is more important than quantity â Taurus would rather have a small bottle of expensive cologne than a carafe of the cheap stuff.

Gemini (May 21 - June 20)
Quick-witted Geminis enjoys gifts that appeal to their sizable intellects. A challenging book is always welcome, as is a magazine subscription. This sign rules the hands, so some scented hand lotion or a sparkling ring might delight. Geminis also love to entertain, so a set of glassware might fit the bill. If you want to splurge on a special Twin, give them the latest cell phone or PDA, so they can keep in touch with their gazillion friends.

Cancer (June 21 - July 22)
Sentimental Cancer loves gifts that have personal meaning. Handmade items always delight, whether it's a finger painting, angora sweater or mincemeat pie. This sign also has a special affinity for silver â a monogrammed hand mirror or picture frame would be very well received. Since Crabs have an affinity for liquids of all kinds, a special bottle of wine, a fancy cappuccino maker or a shiny tea kettle are also good possibilities. And don't forget that these Moon children love the domestic arts â a cookbook specializing in comfort food is another sure winner.

Leo (July 23 - August 22)
Lions love gifts that make them look and feel terrific. Hair accessories, cosmetics and grooming items are all good choices for this image-conscious sign. Leos love drama, and enjoy presents that involve a bit of flair. Opera tickets, gold jewelry or animal print lingerie are right up this cat's alley. Leos also love to gamble, so a sheaf of lottery tickets or a weekend getaway to the casino could make them purr with delight. When shopping for clothing, remember that Lions have a special affinity for red, gold and purple.

Virgo (August 23 - September 22)
Virgins love practical gifts...so avoid dust-catching baubles. A bread-making machine or a power drill would be equally welcome. These folks are also known to pride themselves on their impeccable appearance. Scented soaps, lotions and shampoos made by an earth-friendly company might be just the ticket. Virgos are also incredibly organized and might appreciate a good watch or a leather-bound date book. Or try a health-conscious basket of organic foodstuffs.

Libra (September 23 - October 22)
Librans have a special affinity for music, and always appreciate a good CD to add to their voluminous collection. If you want to do something really special for a Libran friend, splurge on a two concert tickets â this sign hates to do anything alone. Born beneath the sign of the scales, they also need plenty of balance in their lives, so a pair of candlesticks or bookends might appeal. If you're still stumped for ideas, have a lavish bouquet of red roses delivered accompanied by a loving handwritten note.

Scorpio (October 23 - November 21)
Scorpions are secretive by nature and enjoy gifts that obscure their appearance in some way. A pair of designer sunglasses, a filmy scarf or a slouchy hat are all great choices for this sign. These mystery-lovers also enjoy moody, atmospheric stories. A collection of film noirs on DVD are sure to go over well with your favorite Scorpion. The rumors concerning this sign's sexual appetite are happily true, so seductive lingerie would get plenty of use. Since Scorpions also like to get beneath the surface; a gift certificate for a deep-cleansing facial will be appreciated.

Sagittarius (November 22 - December 21)
As far as Archers are concerned, half the fun of getting gifts is ripping them open! If Sag doesn't like a present, though, he or she will tell you outright. Avoid awkward scenes this holiday season by giving this outdoor enthusiast some camping equipment. Hiking boots or a water-proof parka would also be appropriate. These animal lovers adore any gift associated with their pets. A calendar filled with pictures of dogs or horses is sure to elicit a big smile. Finally, you can always feed this sign's wanderlust with a comprehensive atlas.

Capricorn (December 22 - January 19)
Career-oriented Capricorn always enjoys gifts that will boost their job status. A leather laptop carrier or monogrammed briefcase would be welcome. Contrary to popular belief, though, Goats aren't all work and no play. This sign is blessed with a wicked sense of humor, so try the BBC's "The Office" series on DVD. Capricorns also love luxurious presents they'd never buy for themselves, like a silk bathrobe.

Aquarius (January 20 - February 18)
You never know what this unpredictable sign will be doing from moment to moment â one week it's skydiving and the next it's yoga! Still, this quirky sign always appreciates technological gadgets, whether it's an all-region DVD player or an iPod Nano. If you'd like to choose something a little more personal, why not make a photo album detailing all of your exploits with the Water-Bearer? Aquarius may not show it, but they harbor a special fondness for their friends. Still stumped for ideas? A basket filled with brand new socks is both weird and practical enough for this sign, which rules the ankles.

Pisces (February 19 - March 20)
These mystics love gifts of all kinds, but especially ones that help them escape the harsh realities of life. A bottle of champagne, a kaleidoscope or a book of fairy tales will appeal to your Fishy friends. And because Pisces is a Water sign, it's a good bet they'll appreciate bath salts, foaming cleansers and shower gels. If you'd like to give something really special, a digital camera will make a bit hit with this natural-born photographer. Looking for a romantic gift? Choose a gilt-edged volume of love poetry.

Cheers!

Graduation Gift?

abbs

What do you get someone that is graduating. She is actually getting her Masters Degree something cute and nice but that doesn't cost too much at the same time.... I can make or buy.....I just want something really cute...

Answer
For graduation gifts I like to give a personalized stainless steel custom dog tag set. One can be worn around the neck, and the other can be used as a keychain.I usually put the grads name on it and a short quote IE
:
Name Here
For many are
called, but few
are chosen.
Matthew 22:14

Name Here
Everything you
can imagine
is real.
-Pablo Picasso

You can get these on Ebay. I have bought from http://search.ebay.com/_W0QQsassZdogtagsunlimited45QQhtZ-1
I find short personal quotes online like at www.quotegarden.com
I put them in a nice grad. card, and often add some cash, since the tags are very inexpensive.

Answer
Something elegant. Something classy. And it doesn't have to be extremely expensive. Just something unique and memorable that only you could have thought of.

Red Envolope has some pretty good ideas: http://tinyurl.com/greatgiftchoices

Also another one of my favorites is Popcornopolis: http://tinyurl.com/popcornopolis
They have a variety of gourmet flavored Popcorn gift baskets. Yes popcorn! Sounds crazy right? If all else fails, you can't go wrong with popcorn. They let you customize your own baskets and choose what flavors you want. Oh and the shipping is free.

Anyways, hope that helps.

9th wedding anniversary gift to my wife?

Bob

My wife is away and we will not be at the same place for our anniversary. Unfortunately we didn't have much choice. She simply loves flowers so is it OK to send flowers and sweets to her on the day of our anniversary?

Answer
I don't know if you are home and have access to this, but if you do, find a picture from your wedding day where your wife is holding her bouquet. Take that picture to a florist and have them make an arrangement for her using the same flowers and colors; have them delivered with a card with the lyrics to the song you danced to. This will bring tears to her eyes and a smile to her face.
Happy 9 years!

websites for easy to make christmas gifts?

Lisa C

I am on maternity leave this Christmas and I do not have alot of moey to spend on christmas gifts this year. Can anyone give me any ideas or web sites where I can make cheap christmas presents?

Answer
Maybe you can bake some holiday treats and add a cute story or poem. I wish I knew who you needed to give gifts to. Also, check out www.homemakingcottage.com for more ideas. Here is one thing I looked up and found on the site....
Fresh baked bread, rolls, breadsticks, or cookies. (Send your recipe along with it.)

Free or cheap gift ideas...

Share your favorite thought or scripture. Write it on a nice paper and attach a magnet on the back.

Stationary and stamps always make a nice gift, especially for someone leaving on a mission or going away to college.

Stencil on an apron, dish towel, pot holder, pillowcase or t-shirt.

Balloon bouquets, Birthday banners made on the computer.

Fresh fruits, vegetables, or flowers from your garden. Since this is so late in the year I would suggest canned items that were from your garden. You can decorate the top with a square of Christmas fabric and tie with twine.

A basket of small sample items. (Shampoo & Conditioner, lotion, bubble bath, soap, etc.)

Coupon for free babysitting, window washing, ironing, etc.

Take dinner to a friend in a picnic basket with paper plates, paper cups, napkins, and plastic utensils.

A bottle of 7-up or root beer ties with balloons and ribbon decorated for the Christmas season.

Give items to go with a favorite hobby. (film & batteries for a photographer, etc.)

List all of the reasons you are thankful for someone and why you love them. Fill a jar with candy pieces and the notes you wrote for them.

Mirror with a note. "Everyone enjoys the goodness you reflect."

Tape record some of your children's stories. Present the tape with the books so they can read along.

Have a "Souper" day! Give a can of soup and box of crackers.

Here is a gift basket idea.
Movie basket
Includes: Gift certificates to video store, microwave flavored popcorn, peanuts, and pop.

Declining a gift? [Friendship issue! PLEASE HELP!]?

xoxoAmelia

in elementary, my friends know i never get gifts. they know personally i can't afford any more then my family, middle school they didn't care. but now all my friends are planning to get me something.
i don't want to. I
1- feel so guilty
2- have nothing to give
3- don't need anything

my new friend is saying she got me somethign really big and expensive and alreayd wrapped it and is giving it to me tomorrow. i reallly really really really don't want it. no matter what it is. what is a way to decline this gift?
Pleasee help me! I'm desperate!

Thanks a bunchâ¥
~Amelia Rose~
PS check out my past questions too :)

Answer
Just accept it. You might hurt her otherwise. I don't know how close your are with your friend, but you might be bluntly honest and say that you can't afford to purchase her a gift. If she insists on giving you a gift, then just accept it.

You could easily bake something though. Why don't you make up some cookies and package them up for your friend with a nice card telling her that you really like her.

Don't feel guilty, over christmas time, some people go overboard and want to get everyone presents. It's how they share the joy. Just don't make a big fuss and accept it.

If you actually can't accept it and your friend gives it to you in front of a group, just accept it, and later on tell your friend that you feel really guilty since you can't afford a present for her. You don't feel right accepting her gift.

Explain Amazon gift Cards?

David

Do they Expire Lets say I get Like 10 Amazon Gift cards worth 5 Dollars {$50} can I Used them all to buy one Thing And What Elese I Should Know About Amazon's gift?

Answer
Amazon gift cards do not expire, and you can use multiple gift cards towards one purchase. When you enter your gift card number into your online Amazon account, it deposits the money into the account. So, using 10 gift cards worth 5 dollars (why would you even do that?) would rack up 50 dollars overall on your account, which could be used towards any single or multiple purchases (there may be some exclusions, but usually none.)

Amazon gift cards...?

Holly C

i want to order an amazon gift card...can it be used on downloading music there

Answer
Hi Holly!

Yes, Amazon says their gift cards can be used on music downloads. In fact, it looks like gift cards can be used for anything on their site with a few exceptions. The only limitations on gift cards appear to be:

1) if you buy them at amazon.com, you can't use them at Amazon stores in other countries (Amazon.co.uk, Amazon.de, etc)
2) you can't use gift cards to buy more gift cards
3) gift cards cannot be reloaded, transferred to others in exchange for value, traded in for cash, or applied to somebody else's account, etc.

I found this information at Amazon's site at the link in the source section below. At the top of the page, it says that gift cards can be used store-wide. And if you scroll down to the terms and conditions section, you will see the section on limitations. Take a look to confirm for yourself :).

Good christmas gifts for a twelve year old?

Chuck

I'm twelve and christmas is coming and I need some ideas. I play xbox and I play m rated games. If there's nudity I can't have it, but if it is only partial nudity I can have it. I like computers and I'm getting a netbook so id like to know the best sompany tghat does netbooks. If there are any cool USEFULL xbox accesories (not the dumb keyboard) id like to know, and if ther is any other fun thing a twelve year old should have let mo know. Thanks!

Answer
send a letter to the President asking for the economy to get better so that one day when you get older, you know you'll have a job to buy your own stuff. Christmas is about giving, but your asking. You don't even know what is ahead of you. Those games you play and the clothes you wear are made by people in slavery. Yes, you've read about it in your history book, it still happens. Google Human Trafficking. This is where kids younger than you are taken from their families and placed in mines to dig for diamonds.... They don't get paid, they live to be fed maybe a little bit less than a loaf of bread a week. Guess what they do to women? Google it. Quit asking for presents, start asking for change on a regular basis. Better yet, you might have an ipod.... Google "Foxconn" the people who work to make your ipod get paid $150/month. Now, ask your parents if $150 is enough to buy groceries for your family for a whole month. Now, think, there are more things you need to buy otherthan food to survive. You need a home, electricity, water, a bed, etc. This is the modern age of slavery & you are supporting this type of slavery when you buy these products. They are not the only ones. 90% of the stuff in your room are made using the same slavery techniques.

What should I get my parents for christmas?

lilah tele

Answer
The best thing is know what your parents likes are and are into say like golf, yoga, play poker or blackjack, like reading fiction and nonfiction spy books, gardening, what are they fans of and so on. Since you didn't say or know, how about any of these things on the list.

$50 dollar Visa Gift card?

Joely

So earlier today, my mum bought me a $50 Visa Gift card, and i registered the card on giftcardmall.com/visagift, blah blah; and so then i went to try and make a purchase online, but it said there was an error.

What do i need to do to make the card valid for purchasing online?

Answer
It usually takes a day or two for the information with the gift visa to be updated officially. That's one of the only drawbacks with gift card purchasing online. The online company processing the purchase is required to verify the card, the owner of the card, and the address of the owner of the card. I would try to call the gift card company and make sure that #1 the card was activated, and #2 that your information is updated in the online system.

How do I gift 50 thousand dollars to my daughter without having a tax problem?

santosias

Due to the laziness of an estate lawyer, all the money(about 200 thousand) from a medical malpractice case is coming in a check to me personally. I originally wanted my daughter to receive 50 thousand of the amount and my grandaughter to receive 25 thousand. How do I open an investment account for them without having to pay taxes?

Answer
The easiest solution is to open an account for each and deposit $12,000 in each account per year until it gets up to where you want it to be. Then, you won't have to worry about filing any extra tax returns. If you are married, you can deposit up to $24,000 per year in each person's account.

HOWEVER, if this is unacceptable, then you have two other options.

Option 1 - give each person $12,000 (or $24,000 if you are married) and then give a different relative (trusted sibling?) $12,000 (or $24,000 if you are married) and instruct the sibling to give the money to the intended party. This 3rd party will have to be very trustworthy. The IRS frowns on this method as it "goes around" their gift laws, so even though it is commonly done, I don't recommend it.

Option 2 - Give the total amount to each person now. You will have to file a form 709 "Gift Tax Return" (see link below). It is not exactly simple, but at least it will NOT cause tax due. The first $1,000,000 of gifts you give in your lifetime (that are over $12,000 if you are single and $24,000 if you are married) will not trigger a tax.

If you are single, your 'gift tax amount' will be $38,000 ($50,000-$12,000) for your daughter and $13,000 ($25,000-$12,000) for your granddaughter for a total of $51,000 which is substantially below the $1,000,000 limit. This means you can still give $949,000 for the rest of your life without triggering any gift taxes.

If you are married, you will incur $26,000 ($50,000-$24,000) plus $1,000 ($25,000-$24,000) or a total of $27,000. Better yet, just give your granddaughter $24,000 and the last $1,000 next year.

Keep in mind that any amount on a gift tax return will lower your estate threshhold. Meaning, if the threshold for estate tax is $2,000,000 when you die (it changes almost every year), the first $2,000,000 of estate value will not trigger the estate tax. However, if your lifetime gift tax is $100,000, then the threshold drops to $1,900,000.
