What are gift ideas to give for a wedding?

gift for her just because

gift for her just because image

Olivia

My friend is getting married soon and I plan on gifting her for her bridal shower and wedding. I spent around 70 for her bridal gift. What should I give for the wedding. I am hoping to not spend as much for that gift. So that mean I want to avoid giving her cash or a gift card. Any ideas for affordable gifts?

Answer
I think a gift basket would be great. Pick a theme, like kitchen utensils, arrange them in a nice pitcher or a large bowl. Bathroom: soaps, washcloths, toothpaste, plunger, etc in a small trash can. Mostly, think of all the little things you forget about when you first move into your own place. Cleaning supplies, nails, spices! The personal touch will make it sweet, and the relief when they realize they don't have to run out to wal-mart for that little extra for dinner will make a great memory.

This is also an idea I came up with on my own, thinking it would be really cute if someone did it for my own wedding gift. If the couple's last name is also a brand name, buy a basket and fill it with those things. My soon to be name is Hines. So, we would get ketchup, mustard, nuts, Duncan Hines baked goods. Or you could do a similar thing with their first names.
Let us know how your gift turns out!!

Is this a lame gift idea for my girlfriend?

gift ideas for her xmas
on Perfume and scent sets will be a good gift for your girl on this Xmas
gift ideas for her xmas image

Sawyer P

My girlfriend and I have been together for over five years. I have given her many pieces of jewelry as well as other common and not so common gift ideas. We have been doing it long distance for the last 1.5 years which kind of plays into the theme of the gift I was thinking of giving her for xmas this year. The gift is a personalized throw pillow on one side it is a cute picture of both of my dogs on my family's boat with their tiny dog life preservers on. On the back it is a good picture of us both on a trip Cancun this Summer, in text underneath it says "Cancun, 2012" and centered underneath that "I love you". The pillow is a light pink color that fits in with the color of her bed. I was thinking this would be nice since we do not currently live together as it has pictures of both us together and my dogs that she loves. I am worried however that this is a lame gift... I am also planning on getting her some chocolates or something along those lines and obviously a card.

What do you think, lame idea or a nice idea?

Answer
No, that is not a lame idea. That is a great gift. I think your girlfriend is going to be very happy.

The best secret santa gift for my friends?

Mariah

I want to give my friends the best gift ever, because come! Giving is fun and sweet! It's better than getting your own gifts. My friend Lydia where's Burberry a lot and I noticed she likes Harry Potter a lot, so I was wondering which gift will fit her. My other friends loves football and Notre Dame and he has and he hates books. My other friend is blond, loves Gossip Girl, and she loves to shop at Hollister and A&F. Can you think of a good gift for them? I want them to be happy.

Answer
Can't go wrong with money. But, if you wanna be personal. Give your guy friend a football Jersey or a Notre Dame banner. Then give Lydia something from Burberry and a Harry Potter poster (Assuming she has all the books and movies). You can give your other friend the Gossip Girl season one, the complete box set of the book series, or something girly.

What is an appropriate gift to give for an engagement party? I am only one person attending.?

mrr86

It is a family friend that in engaged. She is 22 and he is 30. I am attending alone. What is an appropriate gift to give? I planned on giving $100, but that seems a bit much for one person. Is money even appropriate for an engagement party? What is an appropriate gift? Is $100 too much? I hope so, because money is kind of tight.

Oh and the party is tomorrow ha, so I am hoping the answer will be money, but just a smaller amount. Thanks so much!

Answer
That seems like a generous gift for a wedding, not an engagement party. If you really need a monetary gift, a nice card and $25. is enough. Otherwise, think that you still need a shower gift if you are female, and the wedding gift. Save the big bucks for the wedding.

Anyone know the legalities of shipping wine to UK?

hartgurl70

I want to send a gift parcel to my mum-in-law in England. I always send her parcels via USPS, but the information they provide as far as what is legal and what isn't is very vague. Has anyone out there done this before? If so, any advice as to how to go about getting it to her it without any issues?

Answer
The only legality regarding UK law is payment of UK tax. We have no problems in personal wineshipping.

If it is just one wine bottle I would get a single polystyrene bottle mailer and send it via regular mail as an 'unsolicited gift'.

If you want to send more, then I suggest you make quite certain that the same wine is not already available on the UK market. If it is, it will be cheaper all round to order via the web from a UK company for delivery to your mum-in-law.

The problem is UK taxes on wine are high, and you don't want your mum-in-law to be hit by a tax demand from the shipper (who will also add on a huge 'administration fee.' UK tax is not only duty plus wine tax, but then 17.5% VAT is added on top (including the other taxes, i.e. its a tax on tax)

Look at sites like www.majestic.co.uk, www.vinappris.com and www.oddbins.co.uk & www.everywine.co.uk for wine vendors that deliver nationally

If you want discuss suitable wines etc feel free to contact me via my profile

Anyone have gift ideas for a family member moving to Italy for school?

Charles

My brother and his family are moving to Italy to go to school. We would like to get them a gift that would help them while they are there. Gift cards are a consideration, but what kind, and where do you get them? Amex, Visa and others say in the fine print that they will only work in the U.S.

Answer
How about an Amazon gift card? If they're going to school they'll need books, and Amazon will deliver Europe-wide. They can order from the Amazon UK or Amazon France shops online and have the goods delivered to them in Italy three to five days later.

Another thought is, if they don't already have one, buy them a headset / microphone / webcam so that you can call each other for free while they're away. Skype works really well, we use it all the time from Italy to contact relatives in the UK.

And another is to make them a scrap-book / photograph album / DVD of family, friends and places they love to take with them. You could ask other people to give you photos and written messages to go in it.

When we moved to Italy, someone did that for us and it was the most meaningful of all the gifts we received and something we look at often.

What a lovely thought on your part - I hope your family are very happy in Italy - it's a wonderful place to be.

I dyed my hair - it's growing out/roots showing - what's the cheapest way to fix?

CB

My hair is naturally a light/medium brown. 3 months ago I had it dyed to a darker brown - redish color in the salon ($80!!). Obviously some roots are now showing - so what should I do?

Do I have to get my whole head of hair dyed again?
Can they just dye the roots?
Could I buy a box to fix it myself?

I'm concerned with the cost - originally my cut and color was a birthday gift.

Answer
Hi there. Going to the salon is ALWAYS going to be expensive.

Do you have to get your whole head dyed again?...the answer is no. Whether you decide to go to a salon or do it yourself you have a couple of options.

if you liked the haircolor and want to continue with it, I would see if the hairdressesr would give you the name of the brand of color that was used and what "level" and "base" it was. Level being the lightness or darkness of a color...base being the "underlying" color. (Gold, Ash, Viloet, etc.) If you can't get this information, it isn't a huge deal.

What you would have to do is go to a local beauty supply store like Sallys beauty supply. There they should be able to help you match up your hair color.

There is acouple of ways you can touch up the hair. If you liked the color and are going to stick with it, all you would do is color the roots of your hair taking about a half of an inch to an inch of hair at each time(starting at front hairline). Then, you would let the hair proccess for the amount of time required. The last 5 minutes, you can pull any of the leftover dye through the rest of your hair. This will just help to match the roots with the shaft and ends.

Now, if you aren't sure you want to keep that permenant color but you don't like that line of re-growth, you canalways pick up a demi-permanent haircolor and just pull it through a highlighting cap. That will make the re-growth a little less obvious.

I don't usually suggest going to the drug store to buy haircolor. The shelf life actually isn't the same as professional haircolor. Also, smaller beauty supply stores are always re-stocking so the color is never sitting on the shelf longer than 1 or 2 months. (Less harsh on the hair as well)

Hopefully this helps yah a little. Good Luck!

is it possible to change the delivery method of tickets i ordered from ticketmaster?

So I ordered these tickets for a friend as a gift and the delivery method said "will call". Then my friend told me this meant the credit card holder (my dad) would have to go to the venue the night of the concert to pick up the tickets. This is very inconvenient so I was wondering if its possible to change the delivery method and if so how to do it.

Answer
Why don't you call TicketMaster and find out?

What was the Division of labor in Ancient Egypt?

 on After The Run

Jeff N

Like what people did what jobs, and the types of jobs.

Answer
Ancient Egypt was an interesting and vital place. Almost every job you can think of today existed then, with perhaps the specific exception of "rocket scientist." There really was NOT an analogue of that job I can think of. otherwise, name a job today, and there's something of a comparison for it then.

Most people would immediately answer by challenging - well, what about computer programmer? How about the cable man, or the cell phone tech?

There were analogs to those jobs. We might see the ancient scribes as the equal of computer programmers, for example. Both worked with arcane, specialized written langauges, their work made possible extensive and expanded communication, and while there are - or were - many of both, the jobs were still highly-specialized and not so common.

The cable guy - he's the one who goes around chiseling heiroglyphics into the walls. The cell phone techs in ancient Egypt would have been the riders - or runners - in the message service networks.

Virtually all of Egyptian society was organized on a somewhat rigid class system from top to bottom. Evidence shows it was possible to move from one class to another based on merit, luck or the whim of an important patron, but that largely there was little social mobility. What your father was, you were. It was also a society that was actually less restrictive on women than the more conservative cultures of today, one in which women worked and could be valued individually, but were largely held subservient.

Egyptian society was also paternalistic. Those at the top of the social structure owed a duty of care to those beneath them. The product of the Egyptian society and economy - and those were, for most of history, one and the same - was communal. While people had their own goods and possessions, and earned their livings, the fruits of agriculture and general production were the belongings of all in the community. since Egypt was an heirarchical society, the distribution was directed (and benefitted) from the top down, but a poor harvest might well mean the death of a Pharoah because he was blamed for the starvation of the people.

So, then, labor was also the property of the community. this was epxressed in groups of people who at different times went to contribute their sweat to the construction of the pyramids, the building of the temples and great cities, the paving of roads, the restoration of the banks of the Nile, and the hundreds of other public works that characterized ancient Egypt. Only certain people were exempt from this public service, and then because their gifts were reuired in other areas of support for social and state interests. It was not slaves, but willing members of the community, who crafted the surviving monuments of Egypts great past.

Egypt's foundation, of course, was the poorest class. Although slavery was common in Egypt, most people were NOT slaves. Slaves were the property of rich (or at least very comfortable) folk, and slavery as practiced in that time was entirely different from the sort of chattel servitude practiced in America and Europe in the 18th or 19th centuries. Evidence of recent years indicates strongly that the Israelis were not slaves per se when Moses led them out of Egypt.

The poor working man and woman were very common in Egypt. Most worked fields, made basic goods such as straw mats, woven cloth, or mud bricks, carried wood, hauled water, cleared dung from the streets, irrigated the fields, herded animals, pounded reeds to make papyrus, and hundreds of other important, fundamental tasks required of an organized society.

Above the most basic of the people was the artisan class. These were masons and stonecutters, jewelers, potters, painters, skille craftsmen in wood and clay and rock of every kind, tanners, expert weavers and decorative artists. Performers were of this class.

Sea captains were somewhere above this class, as were highly-capable hunters, trackers, explorers, and others. Sailors were in between the common class and that of the artisans.

"Merchants" were people skilled in making money from trading. This is a more complex layer of the society that ranged from well-to-do to nearly impoverished. Some were explorers and adventurers, some were sailors, some were just crafty homebodies who knew where to get what someone wanted and how to get a price for it.

The military was a separate heirarchy of itself. I am not as well-versed in ancient Egyptian military history as other parts, but believe it was a combination of "professional," or at least aristocratic and specially-prepared, soldiers and officers with levies from the other classes of society when they were needed. The very highest levels appeared to have been drawn from the nobtility or persons with military experience whose skill and capability had earned them advancement on merit (or patronage).

The priesthood was a distinct heirarchy, also. There were multiple temples and multiple preisthoods, some wealthy and influential, with many layers, and tohers of lesser significance. this varied over the dynasties. It became at times highly significant, as during the regin of the monotheist sun god worshipper Amunhotep.

Parallel with the priesthood stood the bureaucracy. Ancient Egypt had a vast vueaucracy, to keep count of the shaeves of wheat, measure the levels of the Nile, tally the herds and flocks, report on the labor of the communities given to the king's projects, report on births and deaths, and spy, spy, spy for an ever-suspicious national administration. At times the priesthood doubled as the bureaucratic service.

It is said that when Cleopatra revealed to Julius Caesar the secret treasure of the priesthood, she sealed Egypt's fate as a future Roman conquest.

On a social level with, or perhaps in many cases, above the ordinary, members of the priesthood were the educated specialists. These were the senior priests, scribes, the astrologers and astronomers, the geometricians, the advanced scholars and intellectuals, the engineers and the architects. This was a very significnat level in society, and one that was open to people of merit regardless of their status at birth. However, the education and patronage necessary to achieve this level in practical terms meant that usually people from more privileged classes populated these ranks.

Then there was the nobility. Diplomats, courtiers, senior government bureaucrats, generals, directos of public works or principal designers of the king's monuments, and all manner of useful and useless people of importance who were born to powerful families obviously filled these ranks. Some who rose by virtue of ability or patronage also stood in these elevated planes of society.

Chariot drivers equaled today's race drivers. Falconers equaled today's pilots. And Pharoahs equaled today's dictators. It was a lively place, that Ancient Egypt.

Answer
im an aries goat

(The Naive Genius)

This highly creative character needs "social security" in order to survive. The nature of Aries/Goats is free-thinking, eccentric, and rebellious. But without an atmosphere of total safety and freedom from want in which to evolve without being forced to involve, this person will suffer. The talented Aries/Goat performs best with a tidy safety net. Aries/Goats tend to be languorous and lovely in romantic situations. This one is no exception... sex glistens on the surface and sizzles underneath. Aries/Goats are elegant, extravagant, charming, artistic, gifted and fond of nature. They are also very delicate, their good manners and charms always bring many admirers and friends. These people are very romantic sensitive, sweet and darling. In relationship, they could be sometimes a little bit bossy and lazy, but with their gentle and caring nature, it will be hard to resist Aries/Goats people. The women dream of marriage with a rich man, an affaire with a generous boyfriend, or a liaison with some influential patron. Failing this, she will be happy living at home with wealthy parents. With their strong artistic inclinations, it is not surprising that Sheep-folk have a keen eye for beauty and that they simply adore exquisite things. If they have any choices, they would definitely choose to marry a wealthy person and sit back for the rest of the lives. Also, they are obsessed with their appearance. That, play an enormous part in their sense of personal stability. If they don't look their best, they may be afraid to go out the door to pick up the Sunday papers.

this explains my constant obsession with beauty. just type your chinese and western sign together on google and they give the whole personality trats mix together.

What am I doing wrong with my fish tank?

birthday gifts for her 80 image

I have freshwater fish, guppies. This is a brand new tank due to the last set dying because,(the pet store said), the tank was too small. Now I have a 10 gallon tank and every couple of days, I find a dead fish. I keep the temp. between 78 and 80 degrees. I am careful about how much I feed them. I used distilled water when I started the tank. I know it is pass the new tank stage. I am just lost as to what is killing them. If anyone can help me figure this out, please email me. The tank was a birthday gift for my son for his birthday, he earned it by A, B honor roll and I don't want him to come home to all his fish being dead again.
Any help would be just wonderful, Thanks! Oh and the PH is correct too.
See this angers me. Our local pet store told me to use distilled water! Can I add spring water a little at a time and it not hurt them? They are all the same kind of fish too.
Yes I cleaned it first and let the water sit for 24 hrs. You may be right about not being meant to have fish. I am really beginning to wonder. My son worked so hard for the grades and this is what he asked for. Might have to get him to change his mind. LOL
Let me also say that I really appreciate everyones help. You all have been very helpful. I am going to have the water tested, again. Maybe I can save the fish. I do have a safe tank too. Please, keep replying if anyone has anymore advice or links I can learn from. Thanks so much.
I think I will use a different pet store too!
mrbts..... thanks for the link, very helpful.
I ve had the tank for 2 months at least. There are 5 small guppies in it.

Answer
I read somewhere that you shouldn't use distilled water in fishtanks as it doesn't have the right minerals that fish need.Maybe that could be the problem?
This site has a chart with some info about distilled water in fishtanks - they don't reccomend it, they're talking about betta's but i think it applies to all fish.

What is a good gift for an 80th birthday for a grandfather?

How about some gift ideas? Grandfather turning 80...we have no idea what to get him?

Answer
Happy 80th Birthday to your Grandfather! Wow!!

A scrapbook may be a good idea. If you can get pictures of him through out his life, you could "interview" him and include his memories and thoughts and stories. You could also get stories from other members of the family to include. Or instead of making it a scrapbook of his life, you could make one of his cherished family members from when he was young. Either way, it's the stories and memories are what will truly make this a very special gift.

Remarkable Memories Digitally Designed Scrapbooks is a professional scrapbooking company that can help you put this together.

The Clothespin Game To begin, choose a "buzz word" such as bride, groom, wedding, etc. When each guests comes into the party, hand them a clothespin. Then, if someone hears another person saying the "buzz word," they get to take that person's clothespin. The person with the most clothespins at the end of the party wins. (Another variation is that a guest loses her clothespin when she crosses her legs, a hard task for a party full of women!)

Purse Scavenger Hunt or Let's Make a Deal Remember that old game show, Let's Make a Deal? At the end of every show, Monty Hall would give audience members money for a specific unusual item. This is the same idea. Divide guests into teams of two or three, giving them a list of slightly unusual items, including a few "why in the world would you carry that in a purse?" items. Assign points to each item based on the likelihood that someone will have it. (a lipstick carries 10 points, a can opener 90 points). The team with the most points is the winner. Another variation is to call out items as the bride is opening presents, giving a small individual prize for each item.

The Wedding Night
This one is particularly fun at a lingerie shower. As the bride unwraps her gifts, have a bridesmaid quietly write down everything she says, such as "oooh, this is pretty" and "where does this go?". At the end, have that bridesmaid announce, "this is what the bride will say on her wedding night" and read the list out loud

Answer
The best thing is know what your parents likes are and are into say like golf, yoga, play poker or blackjack, like reading fiction and nonfiction spy books, gardening, what are they fans of and so on. Since you didn't say or know, how about any of these things on the list.

What do you buy a woman that is not girly at all?

Elijah's M

I cannot buy her jewelry cuz she doesn't wear it, I can't buy her any accessories for that matter (scarves, gloves, etc.) What is a gift that anyone would like dispite gender?

Answer
What are her interests? Every woman is different. Buy her something she's interested in. I'm not particularly girly, and I like books about history, politics, religion, and sociology. No way of knowing if she would too.

What should I get my special someone for her birthday?

Q. We've been together for over 5 months now and I really want to get her something nice for her birthday. Can anyone recommend something that a pretty girly-girl would like to have?

Answer
I have just the thing that every girl will love. I would get her a Victoria Sercret gift card! I found a place that you can get one for a promotion they are doing for the holiday season. Take it from me pal, EVERY woman LOVES Victoria Secret. You can't go wrong there!

The problem is that I live in MN and he's in Arizona. To make matters worse, it's sunday and most gift basket delivery services don't operate until tomorrow.
I'd like to have something done for him today however and I'm fresh out of ideas...
Is there such a service as having a gourmet dinner delivered to him? I'm open to any and all suggestions... Price is not an issue.

Answer
why don't you send him a picture of a happy memory between you or something?

I watched Kerry on TV and was surprisingly impressed?

Q. I am neither a Democrat nor a Republican. I try my best to vote for the best man or woman. Although I voted for Kerry during the last election because Bush wasn't up to my standards for president of the USA, I wasn't really overwhelmed with Kerry during the debates. I heard him today on Meet The Press and I must admit that the guy impressed me not only with his gift of delivery but with many of the things he said. He made a lot more sense than McCain who seems to parrot Bush and his plan. I find it too bad that none of the Democrats who are running for president come even close to Kerry's intelligence and general knowledge. Too bad because I am not in awe of any of the Republicans although I probably prefer Romney at this time. In my opinion we don't have too much to work with do we?

Answer
Maybe Hillary will surprise us by picking Kerry as VP.

It is doubtful though given that Hillary is from New York and Kerry is from Massachusetts. The Northern states usually go to the Democrat running anyway, so a good ticket needs to be well balanced.

What do you think about being given handmade gifts?

Ginger

I have sold the items I make for lots of money. They are very beautiful. And yet there are some family members of mine that act like when I give them one of my handmade gifts it is a like a slap in the face. Others rave over my stuff.

Answer
Anyone who has complained doesn't need a gift. If someone mentions it just say "Oh, you are so particular that it just makes you unhappy, so I don't want to put you through it." I recently said that to someone after she told me she was worried she might receive ugly clothes at her baby shower.

If you are oblligated to give something to someone, it isn't a gift anymore and you don't have to play.

I'm throwing my sister a bridal shower and I dont have any game ideas. Any Help?

Answer
Toilet Paper Wedding Dress

Divide the guests into two or more teams of at least three people each. The teams are given rolls of toilet paper, and each team chooses a "bride." Give the teams 20 minutes to create a wedding dress on their "bride" using the toilet paper. At the end of the allotted time, vote for the best wedding dress and the funniest, and give prizes to the winners.

The Clothespin Game

To begin, choose a "buzz word" such as bride, groom, wedding, etc.

Purse Scavenger Hunt or Let's Make a Deal

Remember that old game show, Let's Make a Deal? At the end of every show, Monty Hall would give audience members money for a specific unusual item. This is the same idea. Divide guests into teams of two or three, giving them a list of slightly unusual items, including a few "why in the world would you carry that in a purse?" items. Assign points to each item based on the likelihood that someone will have it. (a lipstick carries 10 points, a can opener 90 points). The team with the most points is the winner. Another variation is to call out items as the bride is opening presents, giving a small individual prize for each item.

Cotton Head

Choose a guest to go first, and sit her in the middle of the room. Hand her a bowl full of cotton balls and a wooden spoon, and blindfold her. The object of the game is to pile as many cotton balls on your own head as possible within a certain amount of time (30 seconds or so.) After everyone has had a turn, the guest who got the most cotton balls on her head wins a prize.

Two Truths and a Lie

Each guest introduces herself, and tells the group three things about herself; two are true, one is a lie. Guests then write down, or shout out which one they think is a lie. If a guest is shy, the host should whisper in her ear some ideas for the lie.

Who Am I?

Before the party, make a list of famous romantic couples These can be real: Jessica Tandy and Hume Cronyn, fictional: Fred and Wilma Flintstone, contemporary: David and Courtney Cox Arquette, or ancient: Antony and Cleopatra. Other famous couples: Grace Kelly and Prince Ranier, Katherine Hepburn and Spencer Tracy, Robert and Elizabeth Browning, Romeo and Juliet, Queen Victoria and Prince Albert, Paul Newman and Joanne Woodward, Sarah Jessica Parker and Matthew Broderick. Choose couples that your guests are likely to know. Write each name down separately on name tags and as each guest arrives, put a name tag (without showing them) on their back. Their task is to go around the party and ask yes or no questions about their "secret identity." For example, "am I a fictional character?" "Am I a man?" Then, they have to find their "better half". The game ends when everyone has found their partner, award a prize to the first couple to do so.

Bridal Bingo

There are many fun variations on this game. The most popular is this one: the host pre-fills out bingo cards with things the bride likes, and then has her draw either the items themselves (if they are small gifts) or slips of paper (if they are things like places she has visited, her favorite color, etc.). Variation two is that the guests fill the cards out themselves with presents they think the bride is likely to receive, putting their own present in the free square in the middle. When a guest has a matching square with what the bride has called (or opened), she can cross it off; five in a row, across or diagonally count as Bingo! Give a door prize to the first winner.

How Well Do You Know the Bride?

Start off this game by asking the bride to leave the room, standing just out of sight, but within hearing distance. Ask guests what she was wearing, (color of her shirt, hair up or down, etc.) then move on to harder questions such as how did the bride and groom meet, what is the bride's favorite color, etc. The first person to shout out the most correct answers is the winner.

How well does the bride know the groom?

Before the shower, ask the groom questions about himself and carefully write down his answers. At the shower, ask the bride to predict what he said. If the answers match, she gets a prize. If the answers don't match, the first guest to call out the correct answer gets the prize. Sample questions include, What is his favorite color? Favorite band? Favorite thing to do on the weekend? Dream vacation? Where was their first date?

How Old Was She?

Ask the bride's mother for pictures of her at a variety of ages. Pin them to a board, and hand out sheets of paper to each guest. As they mingle and eat, they can guess what age she was in each picture. Give a prize t

Is it fair to call a woman "disgusting" if she states that she wouldn't accept a ride from a male stranger?

Pookie.

Inspired by this question:

http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;_ylt=Akd_.dd9Om6HOe6.QyyWReAYxgt.;_ylv=3?qid=20081023211616AAqXiBr

and an answer that indicated that in the event of a car breaking down, a woman's decision to *not* get a ride from a male stranger and instead get a ride with a female stranger was "disgusting"

(The question is at the bottom of this thread).

When a person gets bitten by a snake in rural areas of Australia in early spring, the likelihood of the offending snake being a King Brown is fairly high. King browns are known to be aggressive, and often attack the unsuspecting victim unprovoked.

Imagine a situation where a snake bite victim presents herself to a local ED following a snake bite. She tells the Dr that she saw the snake, but couldn't remember what it looked like. The doctor was aware that King Browns were very active in the area, and a significant number of other patients had presented themselves at the same hospital in the past few weeks with snake bites. As it turned out, 90% of the snake bite patients admitted, had been bitten by King Browns. While any number of types of snakes *could* have bitten her, the doctors awareness that the recent statistic of 90%, the fact that it was an unprovoked attack, coupled with the fact that it's the second week in Spring, makes her (the doctor) highly suspicious that the bite was that of a King Brown.

Would it be fair to say that based on the information available to the doctor that she was justifiably highly suspicious of the offending type of snake?

Similarly, because it's general knowledge
