9th Wedding Anniversary?

Miserable

Traditional Gifts: Pottery and Willow
any suggestions ???
sorry yes its my anniversary ,some great ideas comming in guys thank you!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Answer
You could plant a willow sapling together, if this is your wife.
Don't suggest doing it with someone elses wife, lol.

A nice vase.

OR how about a date to one of those paint your own pottery studios and paint a pair of something...salt and pepper shakers, picture and bowl...

another thought is take a pottery throwing lesson, or give a gift of a class to the couple, if it's not your wife.

Need wedding anniversary gift ideas..........?

Answer
If you want to spend a little more time on this one you can gather up your photos, write up your story of how you met and got engaged and then publish it into a beautiful hardbound book. iMemoryBook will do this for you. Even though guys act tough on the outside, when get a thoughtful gift they melt inside.

College Graduation Gift?

Ashley

My best friend is graduating college soon, we've been best friends for years and years! Shes the first to graduate out of any of our mutual friends...whats a traditional college graduation gift? We were going to throw her a BBQ as well (she had stated that's what she wanted) but I wanted to get her a little something something as well. Any suggestions?

Answer
If she doesn't have a watch and you can afford one, that would be a nice gift. Or maybe a gift certificate to something you know she likes.

College Graduation Gift for Female Cousin!!! HELP PLEASE!?

a a a a

My cousin (female tomboy) is graduating from the University of New Hampshire in a few weeks and I have no idea what to get her? HELP! She's very much a tomboy and is going into the business field. She's applying to DRAKE! OY! She's from Kennebunkport, MAINE. She's not your typical Maine type however! Loves sports and such! HELP! :)

( I already got her a business card holder, someone already got her luggage and other big ticket items, she has almost anything else she could need or want. I want something unique...suggestions wanted thanks!)

Answer
I think that you can never go wrong with a gift card (when you are not sure what to buy). Pick one from her favorite store, ... movies.. or anything from his hobbies, etc. There are gift cards for everything...
But there are people, too, who prefer some nice memorabilia and keepsakes, things that they will always enjoy looking at and remembering...
There are many websites with personalized gifts (I tried this one myself), e.g. Things Remembered:

http://www.thingsremembered.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/category3_10001_10001_2186_-1_1584_1584_1_category_true_236_0_236_PRICE_0_2186

Or find the one, that has some special sport (the team that she likes) items... from funny to personalized ones. There are many on the web..., but since I don't know her favorites, I cannot recommend anything specific.

Good luck with picking the right gift.. whatever it might be..

My boyfriend bought me a careless Xmas gift?

jonas

Well me and my bf decided to open our gifts for eachother early this year.we've been dateing a little over a year. Anyways I bought him 3things,I knew he'd love and were from the heart.it wasn't expensive, and I didn't expect him to buy me somthing expensive either, well he didn't...he got me a graduation bear for Christmas...the tags all crumpled and it's a lil dirty... Also I graduated 2 years ago....I just don't feel like he put thought into it.... I pretended to be happy and didn't say anything....what would you do? It even looks like he just found it laying around his house, but he says he bought it. Idk.what would you do?

Answer
LOL that's a really bad gift! Men ARE bad at buying gifts at times but if you let him get away with it, he'll never bother putting any thought into it.

Tell him you were a little hurt - not because the gift was inexpensive (use that word, not 'cheap'!) - but because you didn't think it was something he'd put much thought into, and you feel that that's what gift giving is all about - a physical representation of thoughtfulness and consideration for each other.

I dated a guy once who was an AWESOME gift giver. But one Valentine's Day he bought me a cheese grater and matching strainer!! WTF?? He liked kitchenware and they were good quality items, and I thanked him and coo-ed over them. But - after discussing it with my friends to make sure I wasn't overreacting - I told him that although they were useful, I didn't think they were suitable romantic Valentine's gifts. I told him that all I ever wanted on that day was flowers or chocolates, and from then on, that's what he stuck to and I was always grateful for them.

After that we used to laugh about it all the time, but it took real guts to tell him! Never got a bad gift from him again though...

If your boyfriend can't see that this is important to you, then he's not the one for you. It's got nothing to do with being greedy or materialistic. You thought about him; he didn't do the same for you. That's fundamental and needs to be corrected asap.

Overwhelmed with home-made xmas gifts?

Kitty

This year my family is making home-made gifts, i started kind of late.. i know how to crochet and im a beginner knitter.. i have about 5 projects for the kids which are almost done but i have 2 brothers and their wife's, my mom.. anyone have any advice before i go insane? :(

Answer
Yes--use big needles/hooks and uncomplicated designs. Knit or crochet while you watch TV for productive multi-tasking and keep a project with you so you can knit or crochet while you wait (I've crocheted an afghan while waiting in line to pick up kids after school and knit socks while waiting in doctors' offices and so on).

A gift you can crochet or knit for women that looks impressive is a moebius scarf. They're quick to knit if you use Cat 2 or Cat 3 yarn and large needles for a lacy effect or worsted yarn and 6.5mm needles. This page (http://www.twinwillowsfarm.com/moebius_scarf.html ) explains how to do one when you're knitting crossways--and you can use a different pattern as long as the ends line up. I'm doing one that is 3 x 3 rib over 48 stitches. This page has instructions for knitting one in the round: http://www.planetshoup.com/easy/knit/scarfmb.shtml . Cat Bordhi has a video on YouTube illustrating her method of moebius knitting: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LVnTda7F2V4 . Lion Brand has a couple of patterns for moebius neck scarves using bulky yarn and big needles. I've made this one: http://www.lionbrand.com/patterns/kls-tubeScarf.html . It's quick and easy, but the two ends are not identical. This one: http://www.lionbrand.com/patterns/1328AD.html will have identical ends.

For guys, a nice long scarf is quick to knit. I like 1 x 1 rib for this project for reversibility. Use a bulky yarn or 2 or 3 strands of worsted-weight held together, size U.S. 13 or 15 needles, and a cast-on of about 10 to 13 stitches, you can finish one 72" long in an evening or two. I have also knit guy scarves in garter stitch lengthways (cast on 300 stitches for about 65" to 75") on big needles with bulky or multiple-strand yarns. One nice thing about using multiple-strand techniques is that you can create your own "tweed" mixture--school colors, team colors, and so on.

If the weather is cool, foot-warmers are good for everyone. These boot-type slippers are easy: http://www.aokcorral.com/projects/how2oct2005.htm . PolarKnit has free patterns for a variety of slippers using chunky yarns: http://www.polarknit.com/itoolkit.asp?pg=SOCKS/SLIPPERS

what should i ask for a gift for my 16th birthday?

Alina

i already have a car, but i just don't know what to ask for. when i say nothing to my parents because they seem to think that i NEED to have something for my birthday. So you think you can give me some ideas?

Answer
The name Alina makes me think you are female. If that is true, how about a nice piece of jewelry you can have for a long time and think back about, see this necklace, I got it for my 16th birthday:)
Most 16 year olds want some kind of new electronic product, better cell phone, itouch, something. There are always new improved products, so you can't have everything.

what's a good gift for a 16th birthday?

Why are so many women on here trying to get pregnant before getting married?

Maggie

I see question after question on here from women who are trying to conceive with their boyfriend. I should apologize to a few because I chimed in telling them to get married first then have babies when it's really none of my business.

I'm just curious why nobody wants to get married before having a baby? Raising children is really really hard. Am I missing something? I'm not THAT old!

Answer
Lots of reasons really...

me and my boyfriend of around 7 years are trying for our first. He is my soul mate, and I think that us deciding to have a baby together is far more of a commitment to each other than standing in front of some old guy at a church saying 'I do' then watching all our friends get drunk at the reception and complain about the canapes.

Not to mention the fact that my father is retired and I WONT ever expect him to cough up money for a wedding. So I'd have to foot the bill...again, once the baby is (conceived first - baby dust, baby dust) born, that money can go to much better use.

Add to that the fact that both of our parents got divorced when we were young, and to be honest, I can't really respect an institution that is results in a 50% divorce rate...would you use contraception that's 50% effective? Why not?

Lastly, neither of us believes in the Christian version of god, so I don't feel it's right to be hypocritical and stand there in front of a priest and listen to things from a bible that I don't believe...yes...yes, I could get them to say something else, but marriage is really a religious thing, and it just doesn't hold water with me.

Perhaps for some people, the idea of marriage means something more...but nothing in this world is going to make me love my partner more than I do already and there is no greater gift we can give each other than a little one who melds us together into a family.

Need help from women.?

Mommy to O

Ok ladies, I think I'm pregnant. I went to my doctor yesterday and she told me after the pee test in the office came back negative that she's not convinced enough to go for blood work yet that I'm supposed to wait until Wednesday or Thursday of next week to go. This is why I think I am, tomorrow my period will be a week late. I know for a fact that I have never been this late. Some times, all of a sudden I'm hit with a dizzy spell and I'm starting to get queasy a lot soon then I did. Being in a hot tub made my belly upset. On wednesday of this past week, I noticed that I have been peeing a lot more then I used to. My husband and I have been trying for 9 months and this is the only time when I actually thing that I might be pregnant. I have had no hint that my period is coming and it is still not here.

I understand your frustration, my dear.

Believe it or not, my husband and I tried to conceive for more than 8-months. We tried to refrain from sex for days and even weeks but it didn't help.
Worst part is, there were empty hopes - I thought I was pregnant but in the end I wasn't. It's really frustrating and I understand that.

I was in Yahoo Answers and in this section quite some time ago and I ask a question similar to yours and a person recommended me a book. It's entitled "Getting Pregnant Bible". I swear it's like a gift from God!

It teaches stuffs like the seven things you need to do before even you try to get pregnant to ensure a healthy pregnancy; the appropriate diet to conceive; how to increase your husband's sperm count; the ovulation cycle and many others!

I am already having my 4th child now! I really recommend that you try reading this book out. Also, they are currently giving free bonus books like fertility secrets and choosing your baby gender! It's for a limited time only!

Good homemade Christmas gifts?

Eleni

I'm looking to make some gifts for my boyfriend and family. The issue isn't really money as much as I just think they'd all really appreciate a homemade gift and knowing I put effort into it. (Especially my boyfriend) So you don't have to just suggest things that are cheap and effortless, just anything that would be a great homemade gift! Thanks!

PS. Already thought of a tie blanket, mix cd, and homemade rock candy. (And other homemade food)

Need ideas for a birthday gift for a married woman but friend of >30 years.?

Bob T

I need ideas for a birthday gift (<$50) that I can send to a woman whom I've know for more than 30 years.
We are 1,000 miles apart but communicate all the time. She tells me of her family & what she's doing & I do the same.
I do not have a sister, but she is about I think as good as it could be to having a close sister. There is love between us.
This lady is happily married, with nearly a dozen children, a nice husband--although I've never met him.
I want the gift to make her smile, her heart feel good, happy-it to say how much she & our friendship means--she's pulled me through hard times, given me love when no one else would, cared & cares, stayed by me when I've been down, always trying to get me to laugh and be happy. She writes things to make me laugh, cheer up, she is supportive and loving. she's gentle, nice, musical, a better person you couldn't ask for. --yes, many years ago we dated & stupid me, I let her go. But the friendship has continued. We both are happy about that. We reconnected, about 20 years ago, and the friendship hasn't stopped--it never really did..
It's walking a tight rope though. I respect her marriage. She is happy and I am glad. At any time though, her husband can tell her to stop communications. I don't want to do anything that he would take as being a threat, or cause her trouble, but still want the gift to be super happy, nice, beautiful, show care and make her smile. --everything a man would give a sweetheart, except she isn't, and I do not want to do anything to put our friendship in jeopardy or make her husband feel threatened. Any specific recommendations of what I can give? --If I could, I'd send her a dozen roses, but something like that, although making her happy would probably make her husband uneasy & get her into trouble. So what do I do. And a card, just isn't enough.

Answer
In this cases you really can't do a lot and I being a woman and married I would advice you a discret card that dosen't show so much how you really think of her even though you both know or you know how u really feel about her, and 1 you really can't give her what you want you really cant buy her roses or anything suspocios why don't you send her a gift card of 50$ worth that you know she can spend it on something she really want's or needs, since anything else he can be suspicios of or make him feel bad :-) by doind that she can make any excuses and be like i got it for my self or you know any excuse.
but the best is if you call her saying everything you wish for her that day and explain that you prefered that gift so she can spend it on her for a treat and your intension is to make her feel happy and by the phone call she we'll feel the love and happiness of your voice and the card the sorprise and the gift card her special treat ;-)

contrast worst & best gift?

~*prett

contrast the best gift you ever received with the worst gift you ever received

Answer
Best gift??? Time... Spending the day with someone you care about and just enjoying your time together. Personally for me, it was spending a Christmas afternoon on a beach in Florida splitting a bottle of wine with my (then) wife. Of all the Christmases before or since, that was the best gift I ever got...
Worst gift??? Gift cards... It's about the thought, not the gift. Put some thought into it, OK???
PS: Hope this helps!!!

Gift ideas for Husbands 30th birthday?

carissa m

He doesn't want a party and I was going to take him on a Discovery Flight but he said no to that too. I need a really good gift to give him that won't cost a bunch of money. He likes golfing, sports, and deer hunting. I looked into buying him some tickets for a sports event but too expensive!!
Thanks a head of time!

Answer
It's nice you are so thoughtful. Why don't you consider framing your photo? Take an old (or a new) photo, and get it framed.
It is a very personal gift, and it doesn't cost a lot of money.
Maybe a teddy bear (it's a cute gift)?
Or, think about a whole day you'll dedicate to him. Give him massages, make him a romantic meal, watch movie together, slow dance...
Hope I helped a little. :)

What do you think of this gift for my husband's 30th birthday?

Sophia's M

He's an exercise freak so I'm thinking of getting him a new stationary bike for cardio since his is so old and dysfunctional already. His ipod broke months ago and he has been using mine every day, so maybe also an ipod Touch? He also needs clothes, socks, underwear, etc. I know that "30" is a pretty big birthday so I want to give him a nice present. What do you think?

Answer
I think it is a great gift! My husband wanted to get another ring for my birthday and all I wanted is a gym membership. I got one and winter will be here soon in Alaska so no more bicycling. Your gift is great!

under $10 for an unisex gift?

John D

Hi everyone,

Me and my gf are going to a Christmas party were we have to bring two gifts that are fit for a man or women and that is under $10.

It's a dirty santa (chinese gift exchange) type of deal where you pick from the pile and then the next person can either steal or pick from the pile.

The group of guest is quite varied (man in their late 30s, woman in the late 30s, few over 50s...)

Suggestions???? Alcohol is allowed but it seems cheesy.

Answer
Alcohol is DEFINITELY not cheezy. Trust me. I have been involved in many many of these kind of gift swapping parties. Wine is ALWAYS the hard to keep once chosen gift. I pride myself in finding inexpensive wines that are under priced. I would suggest 3 bottles of Forestville cab.
$3 a bottle at most chain grocery stores like Safeway. Your gift will be one of the sought after gifts.

Decent gifts for my family under $10?

UMYEAHH

Ok, I'm 14, so I don't make alot of money, so I was wondering, I have $10 put aside for each person in my family...
Brother-10..loves football
Brother 6-likes harry potter, star wars, superheroes
Brother 4-likes anything
Mom
Dad
I have no clue what to get them..so could anyone give me some ideas?

Answer
Maybe get your brother a winter hat w/ the logo of his favorite football team?

You can get your 6 year old brother an action figure having to do with any of those you just listed ^. IF not, maybe a puzzle or game related to Harry Potter, Star Wars and Super heroes?

For the 4 year old - It depends on what he likes. If you try a KB Toys (who are going out of business) I think you can find something cool for him under $10. Maybe a board game in his age group?

You can get your mom a Bath & Body Works set for under $10. They have xmas specials and little gift sets. If you don't want that, a gift card to one of her favorite stores?

You can get your Dad a book, a cd, a DVD or a gift card for coffee (if he drinks it), etc.

I think it's really nice that you are wanting to buy presents for your family at just 14 years old : ) - I think they will appreciate what you get them, no matter what. Good luck and Merry Christmas!

What's a thoughtful, neutral, inexpensive birthday gift for a 27 year old woman?

Maryam

No gift cards, etc.

Answer
An item that pampers the woman without being too personal is probably the best choice... stationary, candles, chocolates, a small plant, cocoa or tea, a soft scarf and gloves, a popular book, etc.

What is a good gift from Australia for relatives in...?

Romanc

I am *moving* to Europe, Holland/Netherlands for 5 or so months to do some schooling their. I will be staying with relatives, my fill in mum being about 37 (female) or so and the child being 7 (a boy). I am looking for gift idea's that i can take on the plane through melbourne, sydney, perth, singapore, london and paris. I want gifts that show Australia, and not really a coaster with a koala on it, i mean something a little more.. useful and Australian. I have thought of bringing them some Vegemite since i dont know if they have any there, any suggestions? Thanks heaps in advance :)

Answer
We do not have Vegemite, so you will need to bring any you will want to eat. But Dutch people do not like it. So unless your host has lived in Australia or New Zealand, do not bother to bring it for them.

In Australia you have lovely wooden things that make great gifts. Think about something to use rather than something to put on show.
Kangaroo leather is great too, but it is difficult to guess what your host will want to have.

For the child, you might go for a plastic boomerang, not a nice painted wooden one. The plastic one will likely get used, the nice one put on the wall.

Other nice gifts can be T-shirts with print, buy it a size or two big, Dutch boys are commonly tall.
A bag, again with nice decoration.
For more ideas, just walk into a souvenir shop and look, if you like the idea but not the actual item, shop around in normal shops or in craft shops, as there is a lot of quality being sold at normal prices.

Could someone find me a good website for gifts to Australia?

Roger

I wanted to send a gift to someone I care for in Australia from Alabama, preferably flowers and ferrero rocher. any ideas?
Thanks (:

Christmas gift ideas for boyfriend's family.?

basmusiq

I'm going to my boyfriend's family in Iowa for Christmas this year and because there are going to be a lot of people there, we're all doing a secret santa gift exchange game.

The theme for the women's gift is, "Love, comfort, joy."

I can't spend more than $30 and I really want to avoid scarves, gloves, etc.

Keep in mind that everyone "playing" is between the ages of 21-70! So I have to try to keep in mind to get a gift that's a bit more universal.

Any ideas?

I was thinking of a cookbook that has the words "Love, comfort or joy in the title but I'm second guessing myself.

Any ideas will help!!!! Thanks everyone! And have a beautiful Christmas!

I only want to buy one gift for the three of them. Something they will all enjoy. They live in the deep south. They don't get out much.

Answer
One suggestion would be to order s magazine subscription they can all enjoy that is geared to that age group.

You could also order a weekly paper that is of interest to all them - check out some of the ethnic or cultural newspapers.

If they enjoy pizza or other take out foods - you could order gift certificates so they could use they year around. Movie gift certificates are also great.

You could also order a BBQ or a George Foreman Grill - something they could all use.

Hope these help

Found this, Should be helpful:

Gifts according to your sign:
Aries (March 21 - April 19)
Active Aries is always looking for ways to stay in shape, particularly during the holiday season... so athletic equipment is usually a good choice. People born under this sign are also fond of the color red, so a cranberry scarf or a scarlet hat could win their favor. If romance is in the air, let Aries know that you put his or her needs first. Buy tickets for two to a sporting event you loathe... or a CD by an artist you can't stand... to win big points with your favorite Ram.

Taurus (April 20 - May 20)
Taurus appreciates any gift that appeals to his or her sensual side. A box of gourmet chocolates, a richly colored tapestry or a soft cashmere blanket are all great options for Bulls. This sign also enjoys having money to play with, so a gift certificate to their favorite store is a welcome option. Always remember that quality is more important than quantity â Taurus would rather have a small bottle of expensive cologne than a carafe of the cheap stuff.

Gemini (May 21 - June 20)
Quick-witted Geminis enjoys gifts that appeal to their sizable intellects. A challenging book is always welcome, as is a magazine subscription. This sign rules the hands, so some scented hand lotion or a sparkling ring might delight. Geminis also love to entertain, so a set of glassware might fit the bill. If you want to splurge on a special Twin, give them the latest cell phone or PDA, so they can keep in touch with their gazillion friends.

Cancer (June 21 - July 22)
Sentimental Cancer loves gifts that have personal meaning. Handmade items always delight, whether it's a finger painting, angora sweater or mincemeat pie. This sign also has a special affinity for silver â a monogrammed hand mirror or picture frame would be very well received. Since Crabs have an affinity for liquids of all kinds, a special bottle of wine, a fancy cappuccino maker or a shiny tea kettle are also good possibilities. And don't forget that these Moon children love the domestic arts â a cookbook specializing in comfort food is another sure winner.

Leo (July 23 - August 22)
Lions love gifts that make them look and feel terrific. Hair accessories, cosmetics and grooming items are all good choices for this image-conscious sign. Leos love drama, and enjoy presents that involve a bit of flair. Opera tickets, gold jewelry or animal print lingerie are right up this cat's alley. Leos also love to gamble, so a sheaf of lottery tickets or a weekend getaway to the casino could make them purr with delight. When shopping for clothing, remember that Lions have a special affinity for red, gold and purple.

Virgo (August 23 - September 22)
Virgins love practical gifts...so avoid dust-catching baubles. A bread-making machine or a power drill would be equally welcome. These folks are also known to pride themselves on their impeccable appearance. Scented soaps, lotions and shampoos made by an earth-friendly company might be just the ticket. Virgos are also incredibly organized and might appreciate a good watch or a leather-bound date book. Or try a health-conscious basket of organic foodstuffs.

Libra (September 23 - October 22)
Librans have a special affinity for music, and always appreciate a good CD to add to their voluminous collection. If you want to do something really special for a Libran friend, splurge on a two concert tickets â this sign hates to do anything alone. Born beneath the sign of the scales, they also need plenty of balance in their lives, so a pair of candlesticks or bookends might appeal. If you're still stumped for ideas, have a lavish bouquet of red roses delivered accompanied by a loving handwritten note.

Scorpio (October 23 - November 21)
Scorpions are secretive by nature and enjoy gifts that obscure their appearance in some way. A pair of designer sunglasses, a filmy scarf or a slouchy hat are all great choices for this sign. These mystery-lovers also enjoy moody, atmospheric stories. A collection of film noirs on DVD are sure to go over well with your favorite Scorpion. The rumors concerning this sign's sexual appetite are happily true, so seductive lingerie would get plenty of use. Since Scorpions also like to get beneath the surface; a gift certificate for a deep-cleansing facial will be appreciated.

Sagittarius (November 22 - December 21)
As far as Archers are concerned, half the fun of getting gifts is ripping them open! If Sag doesn't like a present, though, he or she will tell you outright. Avoid awkward scenes this holiday season by giving this outdoor enthusiast some camping equipment. Hiking boots or a water-proof parka would also be appropriate. These animal lovers adore any gift associated with their pets. A calendar filled with pictures of dogs or horses is sure to elicit a big smile. Finally, you can always feed this sign's wanderlust with a comprehensive atlas.

Capricorn (December 22 - January 19)
Career-oriented Capricorn always enjoys gifts that will boost their job status. A leather laptop carrier or monogrammed briefcase would be welcome. Contrary to popular belief, though, Goats aren't all work and no play. This sign is blessed with a wicked sense of humor, so try the BBC's "The Office" series on DVD. Capricorns also love luxurious presents they'd never buy for themselves, like a silk bathrobe.

Aquarius (January 20 - February 18)
You never know what this unpredictable sign will be doing from moment to moment â one week it's skydiving and the next it's yoga! Still, this quirky sign always appreciates technological gadgets, whether it's an all-region DVD player or an iPod Nano. If you'd like to choose something a little more personal, why not make a photo album detailing all of your exploits with the Water-Bearer? Aquarius may not show it, but they harbor a special fondness for their friends. Still stumped for ideas? A basket filled with brand new socks is both weird and practical enough for this sign, which rules the ankles.

Pisces (February 19 - March 20)
These mystics love gifts of all kinds, but especially ones that help them escape the harsh realities of life. A bottle of champagne, a kaleidoscope or a book of fairy tales will appeal to your Fishy friends. And because Pisces is a Water sign, it's a good bet they'll appreciate bath salts, foaming cleansers and shower gels. If you'd like to give something really special, a digital camera will make a bit hit with this natural-born photographer. Looking for a romantic gift? Choose a gilt-edged volume of love poetry.

Cheers!

Christmas gift for the boyfriend?

jay

I'm having trouble thinking of good gift ideas for my boyfriend. Anyone have any? He's 18 and in college.

He plays guitar but I don't know if I can afford anything for it except pics..and he has hundreds of those.

Thanks.
oh we've been together about 8 months.

Answer
Aaaw you're a good girlfriend.

GUITAR GIFTS: Gift card to guitar center, guitar stand, CDs, A chord book/guide, new guitar strap. Check out craigslist for anything large, a college guy isn't going to care if it's used.

MISC GENERIC GIFTS: watch, a nice wallet, cologne, shoes (my best friend personalizes a pair of nike shocks every year for her husband's birthday - that's the only reason I thought of it). Just be careful in this dept. You have to know your boyfriend very pretty well. Men are like raisens, no two have the same taste and they are all peculiar.

SPORTS: is he a HUGE [packers, huskers, yankees, OU etc.] fan? Buy him a good league-sponsered hat, beenie, cooler, bean bag chair (he's in college it's okay), etc. He'll love it.

FAST THINGS: Rent ATV, skidos, go snowboarding etc for a day... anything fast that you'd be willing to do with him (if it's not too cold, guys love that). You may want to double check the age limitations. For some you have to be 21.

ENTERTAINMENT: He's in college which means he's going to be poor and, at times, bored. Concert tickets, home theatre equipment (it doesn't have to be expensive... it actually shouldn't be as it's probably going into an apt/dorm. Walmart has $65 sound systems that'll be perfect-o), DVDs, video games, etc... all are just great!

Try to be creative!!! Good luck!

What's a nice souvenir/gift from New Zealand?

Tammy

I have a cousin coming home from New Zealand (South Island) and she asks what I want from there. I already have gone visiting in Auckland and Wellington and found nothing interesting to take home except for cheese and kiwi. What other specialities are there to give as gifts?

Answer
Wine! NZ only exports their worst wines (thanks Montana... not). Burnt Spur Vineyards Russian Jack Pinot Noir. They don't export it. And God, I miss it. If you like a less spicy Pinot Noir, go for the Rabbit Ranch. Or Wither Hills Sauvignon Blanc. Yeah okay I tended bar in NZ.

Other than wine, NZ's best stuff are the little crafts. I bought my girlfriend a pair of earrings from a little gallery in Cromwell, outside Queenstown. Arts and crafts fairs are everywhere in NZ (like the Arts Centre in Christchurch), even locally owned galleries/boutiques and if your cousin has good taste, she could find you something unique.

But if you want something more "NZ specific", I'd go with All Blacks attire. I have an All Blacks shirt and tie and people always stop me and say, "All Blacks!" They're only the best rugby team in the world. Then again, you could've picked those up in Welly/Auckland...

And yep - Greenstone, Paua, and carved bone are cool - though gimmicky and often cheap in quality - watch that. And Manuka Honey's a specialty.

Phew.

When is the Twilight movie being released in NZ?
