My aunt just had her first child (it's a girl!) and I wanted to get something for the baby, and my aunt too....What is a good useful gift to give a woman that just gave birth? I don't want to get her something too personal, but something that she will be able to use. Thanks for your help!
by personal I mean like, stretch mark stuff and like breast pads and stuff like that.

Make some meals that she can freeze and then throw in the oven when it is time for dinner. Makes life so much easier. Or you can give her something that is just for her like her favorite lotion or bath salts. The mommy tends to get overlooked in all of the new baby stuff.

My best friend is being induced tomorrow and I want to bring her a gift for after she has the baby. Any ideas?

As fun as it will be to bring something cute and cuddly, or a new outfit, new mothers appreciate functionality more than ANYTHING!! Here are some suggestions as to things I couldn't get enough of when I had my daughter:
1. A Boppy pillow...great for Moms whether they plan to nurse or not
2. Diaper wipes (buy the sensitive kind to be safe)
3. Bibs...especially the kind with plastic backing so they can't soak themselves!!
4. Gas Drops (Mylicon is the best)
5. A bottle warmer...you can get them for about $20, and they come in VERY handy for if Dad is getting the baby at night, or if they are bottle-feeding
6. Linky-Doos (if that's how you spell them). They are small oval-shaped links (but you can get them in fun shapes, too) that enable you to make a mobile or attach a toy anywhere you go!
7. Baby-safe detergent (I use Dreft) and fabric softener (the only kind out there is Totally Toddler...you can find them at Babies 'R' Us)
8. A microwave steam sterilizer (for bottles, toys, etc.)
9. Clorox Anywhere Spray...to hose down just about anything. It's safe for baby to put in their mouth after only 2 minutes. I can't get enough of it.
10. A baby nail care kit, with safety tweezers, clippers, and nail files. Those baby nails are a hot mess!!
11. Tear-free shampoo and baby wash...Johnson's all-in-one Body Wash and Shampoo is GREAT!
12. Diaper Cream...Desitin is the best, but don't get the "creamy" kind.
13. Diapers...get some newborns and some stage ones...because one day the kid will fit into one, and the next day, they'll have outgrown them!

This ought to get you off to a good start!! Best of luck to you and your friend!
