hi i live in india and my uncle is going to send me a laptop as gift from canada.So i wanted to know will i be charges to pay or not?

I sent a lap top as a gift to Canada and was told that the reciever may have to pay duty. Does any know how much they would charge and what is the limit that they won't charge?
