i need to know how long does it take for a gift card to relize a purchase was made and declined and
'unbill' the card alo is it possible to get the money back on a NON-RRELOADABLE card?

first most merchants will verify the card by charging a $1.00 or 2.00 (gas stations do it for a higher amount) that will fall off in a day or so
now you said the purchase was declined I think i know why you didn't register the card
online in your name on the gift card website now did you?

My birthday gift--$100 gift card from target?

My husband gave me a $100 gift card from target as my birthday gift this month. Any suggestions on what I can buy..? I usually dont spend that much.. but he wants to make sure, I buy something for myself and not for the family.. as always!!!
I would like to add that; the purpose of my husband choosing a gift card was we have had acouple of instances before where he bought a few things( very exp gifts) and I did'nt really like it as much...!! So the gift card was a safe way to handle the ocassion and leave the final gift to my choice..!!

I used to think that gift cards were impersonal and would be offended by receiving them. But then I got one as a gift and realized that the persons intentions was so that I would be able to get the things that I wanted, on top of being able to go shopping and have a day for myself. The possibilites are endless and shopping for yourself when it is something that you rarely do for one reason or another is wonderful. Have fun, look around, and once you see it you will know.

Just curious what other parents price limits are on christmas gifts? $100 per child? $50 per child? And how likely are you to keep it completely fair between spending for each kid? Will you spend more on 1 then the other or do you strictly spend the same amount on both to avoid a problem?

It is a family friend that in engaged. She is 22 and he is 30. I am attending alone. What is an appropriate gift to give? I planned on giving $100, but that seems a bit much for one person. Is money even appropriate for an engagement party? What is an appropriate gift? Is $100 too much? I hope so, because money is kind of tight.

That seems like a generous gift for a wedding, not an engagement party. If you really need a monetary gift, a nice card and $25. is enough. Otherwise, think that you still need a shower gift if you are female, and the wedding gift. Save the big bucks for the wedding.

A question on UK Gift Tax and rights of a couple?

Hi all. I am asking this question on behalf of my friend. She is married to a UK national. They both live in UK. Her husband wants to gift 100% shares of his business to her. Can I avoid the gift tax by giving small gifts to ten people and telling them to give the money to one person?

Q. I want to give a large gift to person X. It seems easy to avoid the gift tax by giving small tax-free gifts to 100 people, paying each of them a small share of the tax savings, and leaving it understood with them that they should give the gift to person X. Assuming I trust these 100 people to pass the gift on to person X, is this legal? Thanks!
