Gift for your bridesmaids?

Rosie-doll

I am a bridesmaid in a wedding in about a month. The bride asked me the other day what she should get us as gifts, and I busted out laughing since generally it's a 'surprise'. LOL. Anyway I told her that jewelry to wear during the wedding is generally what you get but she said she did buy us earrings but they were cheap and not enough to be considered a 'gift'. I told her not to worry but she still asked for my advice, so I think she's having trouble coming up with something.

I think she wants (and I'm sure we do too, since some of us have been in multiple weddings lately) to get us something 'different' or 'unique'....so not the normal stuff.
I happen to use wristlets all the time and suggested that she could get us wristlets with our names embroidered...but I don't know how much that would cost or if the other girls would even like it.
So what are some gifts you've gotten your bridesmaids that they seemed to really like or if you've been a bridesmaid and gotten an awesome gift, what was it?

She's not planning on spending a ton of money I"m sure so ~30ish dollars would be a good starting point. I've embarked on a search on Etsy in the meantime.
Thanks!!
So jewlry, wine/champagne glasses, flasks...etc. are out.
Man, that river rock idea is sooo cool! I'm jealous of you.
The basket idea too....good stuff.

I'll mention the 'individualistic' gift idea to her, but not sure that will go over....they both work full time and have a young daughter so she may not have time to think about individual gifts for everyone by the time the wedding rolls around. Especially since she's just now starting to think of it! =D
I actually did tell her stuff I specifically would want -- in jest, a little.

Answer
The best gifts I have ever gotten for being in weddings were always the gifts given by brides who didn't try to do the matching gifts nonsense and just got us stuff they knew we would like.

For example, when I was in my oldest brother's wedding, we all got the same basic thing, a necklace with a rock from the lake my brother met his wife at, BUT the bride made them all to each of the bridemaids individual styles. So I got a necklace with a black rock on a bad ass industrial looking chain, another bridesmaid got a copper colored rock on a delicate silver chain, and so on. In other weddings I've gotten books I've been meaning to read, CDs, gift cards to Game Stop, all stuff the bride knows I actually LIKE. The other girls all got stuff that matched their tastes and interests as well.

suggestions for baby shower gifts ?

Blogs_123

i have been invited for baby shower...and would like to see what gift should i take there? Any help/hints would be useful...

Answer
Etsy has some cute handmade gifts. Specifically, I got the organic Sam hat from this person's store: http://www.etsy.com/shop.php?user_id=6422389&order=&section_id=&page=1

It's soft and looks adorable on my friend's baby. If you are close friends or relatives, you may want to get something more expensive than a hat, though. I also saw and Ipood tshirt that made me crack up laughing (but I don't remember where I saw it).

Q. I have lots of family and friends to buy for and am on a budget but it is important to me gifts are personal and I want recipients to like what they get. How do you go about picking a really suitable gift?

Answer
Find homemade products.
This ensures that it is not something they already have and something they would not have bought for themselves. There is a great website etsy.com that has stuff in any budget.

What is a cheap sentimental gift for my mother for Christmas?

Savannah

I am really tight with money right now and I want to get my mother and my father a gift for Christmas. What are some cute things to make or give to them?

Answer
A mini canvas print is a relatively inexpensive gift, and it's very personal and unique. Have a memorable family photo printed on a mini canvas to give to your parents - http://www.etsy.com/listing/79512836/mini-canvas-print-print-your-own-photo

Or photos printed on magnets or pocket mirrors also make great small gifts -

I'm going to my friend's daughter's 1st birthday party in two weeks and am looking for a gift that is a little different than just getting an outfit at Gymboree or a run-of-the-mill toy. Any ideas or suggestions on websites to check out?

Answer
Yay! I've been looking for a question like this one to answer! :) I think I've got a good idea for you. The product is called "Bebe Doos Perfect Ponies." It's a headband with ponytails attached. (No, not a wig, just an accessory.) The ponies are tied with colored bows of your choice and have a swarovski crystal in the middle. I know it sounds crazy, but at least check out some of the photos on one of the websites (the Facebook page has a lot):

http://www.facebook.com/pages/Bebe-Doos-Perfect-Ponies/304137350028 (Facebook Page)
www.bebedoos.com (this one's under construction, though)
http://www.artfire.com/users/BellaAspire (You can buy them at this website)
http://www.etsy.com/view_listing.php?listing_id=33273140 (Or this one)

Here's the description from the website:

Please do not forget to include your choice of BOTH, the Hair color AND the Ribbon color for your order! =)

We purchased these after seeing them on 18 Kids and Counting. (Jordyn Duggar wears them.) They are absolutely adorable! Our 10 month looks so cute in them and they really match her hair color.

These work for babies with not a lot of hair or a head full of hair. The creator of these says that the headband could even stretch to fit a two or three year old. It would be perfect for a one year old! This is a really cute and defintely unique gift! I really hope this works out for you! :)

Thinkng about selling some homemade jewelry on etsy?

Haydee

Im thinking about starting a mini buisness on etsy, selling homemade jewlery with my sister (necklaces, braclets, polymer keychains, charms, etc.) I want to know what I need to start out? How does etsy work? Where do I buy the things to package the stuff with? What are some ways to advertise the store? Some tips on succeding? And about how much money will I need to start off and how much money will the buisness earn?

Answer
Your supposed to only sell hand crafted items you made yourself, ( judging by the number of copies of the same thing popping up not everyone abides by that) Vintage items and craft supplies are also allowed. It's a massive place with some 435,000? sellers, it pays to make something distinct with text descriptions that will be found, there is also paid search result ads, some would use ads at first jut to get more prospects to test the marketability of their product a bit more quickly. I believe you pay a 20 cent listing fee for each copy of an item sold plus 6% of the sale price.
Yoy could display your 'art' om some free social sites, maybe an etsy account that link to your store.

Search etsy for the items you want to sell to get the competition's prices, etc. there's a certain culture on etsy where prices are round numbers instead of 19.99 and packaging is a bit like a Christmas gift perhaps with some little bonus thrown in.
