My grandparents will be celebrating their 60th anneversiary this year. What gift ideas do you think will be appropriate.
They don't like having money spent on them and I can't spend too much because I am a student.
Because it is a 60th the Gift should be diamond.

How about something great to eat and some company for a few hours on his birthday I know when I get 60 I hope my daughter are someone will spend a few hours to pass the day bye with a smile.

As far as a gift at 60 years old go to the fresh farmers market and get some Green & Red Tomatoes, Squash, and other veg's.

Plus a watermelon!

My co-worker bought a gift for our boss who received a promotion. The gift cost $60. She did not check with any of us before buying the gift to see if we would want to chip in. She is now asking all of us to pay $10 towards it. Would you pay the $10? We are already going out to dinner, is this too much?

You're certainly not obligated to chip in; but remember, your name will not be included on the card if you don't.

In any event, I'd let her know how you feel about being

Hi,

My sister is having a baby any day now, and someone told me that for close family members such as myself it is expected that you give another gift when the baby is born if you already gave one at the shower, is this true? I don't want to be rude and not give another if ettiquette says I should. Just wanted to be sure though because I'm a 20 year old college student, so I don't have much money. At the shower I gave 3 fairly small gifts totalling around $60. Is that enough? Did your close family members give you another gift once your child was born? thanks!

If I pay back an IRA withdrawal used for an investment property within 60 days will I be taxed on it?

We are buying an investment property and part of the down payment is coming from my mother. She doesn't want to be on the deed, just wants to help with the down payment. However, you're not allowed to use gifted money toward a down payment on an investment property. So to get around this I'm thinking of taking money out of my traditional IRA, using it toward the down payment, and then paying the money back (using my Mom's gift) within 60 days to avoid being taxed on the withdrawal. Is this okay or will I get in trouble with the IRS?

If you pay the entire distribution back within 60 days of the date of distribution, you will not owe tax on the amount taken out of your IRA. You must pay back the amount you receive, plus the amount that was withheld for taxes. A mandatory 20% is withheld for taxes. If you do not pay the amount withheld, that amount will be subject to tax plus a penalty even though you did not receive it.

When you file your taxes, the tax withheld is a payment that you may receive back depending on your other income.
