Lukas

Theodora 'Theo' was an extremely gifted woman both in thought and in imagination. She was quirky and impulsive and introverted but likeable. When she suffered a loss of her childhood friend, she went away from home to fix her pain. That is when she meet the 'Visionary People' who promised to help her with her pain. Little did Theo knew that the people she met were not just their own community, they were also a cult of family worship and 'traditional values'. But little does she know that whenever her mind and thoughts are suppressed, the imagination in her head finds its way to get out by manifesting as psychic powers.

Filbert Blackstream is the founder and pastor of the Visionary people, a typical decent man and loving father with a dark secret. He has an extreme madonna-whore complex and preaches that women should be submissive and subjugated by their husbands and sons. His ministry is based on Calvinism, Patriarchy, Greed, and Business. But Fil has another secret, he was abused by his mother as a young boy and made his life a living hell. He would retreat to watching old family-friendly films on TV. When his mom died, his dad remarried and the stepmother was an Evangelical anti-feminist who treated Fil like royalty. Filbert really does believe in his ministry, and refuses to see his 'Utopia' as flawed.

Pella Blackstream is the wife of Filbert. She is the image of a 'Godly Wife' to the Visionarians. She's self-sacrificing and motherly. She is generous to her guests and to visitors alike. But Pella seems to have a mind of her own. She shows a cunning side that even her husband falls for. She is extremely self-sexist and male-identified. She sees her husbands weaknesses and feeds upon them. She is a spider in a web of lies. She uses flattery to get what she wants.

Geo Cutler is the 'adopted' father of Theo, he is her self-proclaimed priest, prophet and patriarch. He's naive but influential and one of Filbert's advisers. yet he is kind of a pervert. He has his two daughters shave his beard and dance with him during Purity balls. and he seems to have an eye for Theo. stroking her hair, watching her clean, but he come out as bossy when he wants to.

Victoria Cutler is Geo's wife. A middle-aged woman who is neither happy or angry of what role she was pushed in. She takes it all in like a b*tch and bears her hubbie's ego. But when Theo came in their life, she reconsiders. She is at first fond of her but later cold and harsh towards her. Seeing her husband with his hands on Theo has made Victoria jealous for the first time in many years.

Elsa and Hanna Cutler are Theo's adoptive sisters. They do not like Theo at all, they see her as an 'invader' and become super critical of her catechism and work ethics. Both girls are smug, self-righteous, holier-than-thou and jealous. They have a religious superiority complex and look down on those who do not follow.

I am a bridesmaid in a friends wedding. What do I get for gifts?

kristen36

I was told to get a gift for the bridal shower and for the wedding. Does anyone have any suggestions what to get her for the bridal shower?

Answer
If there is not registry, than opt for a

couple's massage

or

buy a bottle of wine than personalize it with something like
"Two Branches of One Tree"
or "Heavenly Day"
or something sweet & quirky like "Mars & Venus" (Men are from Mars, Women are from Venus)

Include the date and their names. Can be a surprise for them on their sweetheart table, and a wonderful keepsake!

Here is an example...
http://marketplaceadvisor.channeladvisor.com/hi/70/69920/cherry_blossom_wine_bottle_8891.jpg
(you can do a more romantic or hip label- it's up to you)

*Just google "personal wine labels" for options, you can do it yourself!
*You can also add a cool wine stopper, corkscrew or wineglasses (the wine stopper is the best idea I think)

As far as the bridesmaids- you are not obligated as the MOH to buy anything for them. However, if you really want to do something- take everyone to lunch at an uptown type place OR for the bachelorette party you could pay for a 2 hour pole-dancing class. That would be really fun! The silly, the wild, even the prude would have a blast= )

Bridal shower gift for the bride: classics are a gift card to Vicotoria's Secret (cannot go wrong) or a massage. The massage will be wonderful way for her to unwind the day before her wedding, she'll need it!

have fun with it, they'll love it= )

Fun GUy

I want to give her something on our wedding day. Any ideas?
BESIDES a necklace or a bracelet.

Answer
There is a book at Barnes and Noble called "What I love About You." It is a blank journal with 150 pages of prompts, or questions that guide you on telling that special someone all of the wonderful things you love about them! It has quirky, cute, serious, funny, etc. questions.

It is a unique gift and would be great. She could open this book and read about how wonderful you think she is. It is something she can always keep and refer back to! It would also be special because you took the TIME and THOUGHT to sit down and fill out this thing for her.

It's what I am giving to my hubby-to-be.

And, of course, you could add a little something extra with it, since it is quite inexpensive. Though, I think she would think just that was amazing.

I mean, how many GUYS (no offense) would sit down and do that for a woman? Not many.

Just a thought.

Congrats and good luck!

what to write about in a 180page Notebook?

Isabel Pac

I have a 180 page notebook and i need help for ideas to write in it.....if anyone would have websites or ideas i would love to use then....and please don't say write about yourself..ive done that and anyone who reads the notebook would know everything about me....ive asked a lot of people this question so im going to be very strict when i choose the best answer......THANKS A LOT

Answer
I don't know your interests so this will be hard to answer.
I will have to use my interests and hope you like them.
So what would I write about if I'm not going to write about myself?

I am fascinated by a few things (good and bad).
1) 97% of the Earth's water is not drinkable or even use-able. 3% is and is quickly dwindling. I would write a few thoughts on that.

2) My observations on what women do their eyebrows and how it makes no sense, and even looks clownish. It starts at a very young age in almost all young women and continues to the day they die. Look at every adult women you see today and tell me if you can find even one with "natural" looking eyebrows.

3) Why I think "World Peace" is impossible unless God comes down from Heaven and forces it upon everyone..

4) Which cars I love and which I think are ugly and why.

5) Past experiences on vacations. Like where I went and what I loved about.

6) Athletes - The ones I hate and the ones I respect.

7) Why I think actors are very quirky and over respected. An actor is someone who is paid big dollars to be a fake personality. I don't even believe that half of the people on reality shows are being their real selves on camera.

8) Why I respect Gordon Ramsey so much. He is a god of cooking and enlightened me on many aspects of cooking. Like keeping ingredients simple. His broccoli soup has 3 ingredients and tastes AWESOME!

9) How mathematics fascinates me, it's solid and always has a definite correct answer. Many other topics in life don't have exact answers.

10) Vegetables I like that taste good, Vegetables I'm afraid to ever try because they smell like a toilet when cooking (ex. Brussel Sprouts and Cauliflower)

11) "The cheap laugh" many sitcoms go for and are so lame and overused. Like this one:
"I will never dye my hair, I accept old age"
3 minutes of the show passes by and that same actor/actress is dying their hair for some dumb reason.
I would then add to the writing which shows use comedy in an intelligent way which is not so predictable. Like "The Whitest Kids You Know" which has some great/funny skits like "John Williams" and "Bikini Day" - check them out on Youtube. Most of their skits are hilarious.

12) Articulation and how it has been lost. The ability of people to convey their thoughts precisely and effectively paint a clear picture in someone else's mind is an incredible gift. Most people do not have this ability. I would also write about people who I admire that can articulate their stories in a beautiful way. Two people come to mind who speak fluently and I can understand everything they speak to perfection - Gordon Ramsey. Artie Lang
Artie Lang fascinates me, he is brilliant and has a photographic memory. He can quote any line (and act it out) from any of the Godfather Movies. That is amazing. Plus when he tells personal stories, he gets the message across in a very articulate way. It's a shame he used to use drugs and tried to commit suicide a little over a year ago. I still respect his intelligence/articulation greatly.

What is it about men that makes your ovaries explode with lust?

Quirky mannerisms?

Answer
Lately for the past couple of years, I've had all the time in the world to think about what I really want in a man. I've met different types of guys who have opened up various aspects of the world to me.. I've met a guy who I thought was the absolute ideal person until I thought deeper about it. Just thought it might be interesting to perhaps list a few characteristics I would want my ideal man to possess. I'm sure a lot of other women would feel the same way inside.

Down to the very basics, the ideal man must be honest: he must not lie, cheat or deceive. He must be wise and be able to teach me more about the world and myself. I want a man to make me become a better person, to encourage me and to support me while i'm weak. I want him to be strong and also be able to show his weak side at times. I want him to be able to engage endless conversations. I want him to show respect, to take in consideration my opinions and ideas. I want him to be loving and caring and to never grow tired. I would want him to put up with me and accept me for the way I am. Superficially, I want a man who would go out of his way at any time to my need. I would want him to come from a nice family with nice friends. I would want him to have a future and direction. I would like a guy who remembers special dates and is full of surprises. Small gifts from time to time, little unexpected notes here and there, lots of reassuring love.

Most of all, I would love a guy who would change for me. The most important thing I find in a guy would be his personality and his loyalty.

Obviously I will not find a man who would fulfill every single criteria i have just mentioned.. so compromise takes its place from then on..

I am sick of love games. I really am, and I'm sure many of you are as well.. Sweet talk and extreme random acts of kindness are just meaningless to me now.. I feel manipulated when guys do that..
I really want to find the man I will marry and just settle down into life.. I want to get to know him well - both the bad and the good.. My previous post concerned consequences dealing with the future, perhaps I was wrong.. perhaps I was just too scared of becoming heartbroken all over again.

Silly stocking stuffer-type present?

annabanana

I want to get a little stocking stuffer for each of my coworkers. I can buy or make them. The point is to have them be kind of silly and quirky. Like last year, someone gave out penguins that poop jelly beans.
If it helps, we are all science teachers, so it could be something related to that. But it has to work for men and women and is supposed to be cute and funny for each of them.
Any ideas?

Any ideas for this story of mine?

Amrizzer

I'm writing a love story entitled Secret Admirer and a ghost story entitled Bivouac Bewilderment, any bright ideas to get me started
the love story must have teenagers as characters and in the bivouac, it may be something like there was a bravery test that night, where students trekked the forest at night, the teacher sets up fake ghosts to ateempt scaring the children, but maybe somehow the test backfires on them and there were real ghosts in the forest

Answer
For the love story, maybe start with a woman at work in an office. A coworker of her's gets a big beautiful bouquet of flowers and she gets a little sad about her current lack of romance. She goes on lunch break and decides to buy herself a little gift while she's out. Once she picks something and goes up to buy it, say a bracelet or something, the cashier informs her that it's covered. Someone has bought if for her, "a gentleman who just left" the cashier says, but she doesn't have a clue who the man is. When she runs outside, no man is in sight.

For the ghost story, I don't know - that title's kind of throwing me off. Is it supposed to be quirky and a little humorous (what with "bewilderment")? Is it a military ghost (I Google "Bivouac" and came up with a type of army shelter)? I don't know how to fit the two of those things together. The only idea that comes to mind is if the shelter were used in the mountain-climbing sense and the story was about a skier or hiker whose buddy gets separated from him but he still keeps thinking he's catching glimpses of the guy everywhere, or where a skier/hiker chickens out on his adventure after learning about the death of a fellow outdoorsman, who begins haunting him into trying to finish the job he died doing.
