Well during boot camp the recruits are not allowed to recieve anything from home until they complete training. They go by strict rules, but I believe they can recieve snacks like cookies, cakes, not unless their rules have changed again. Anytime after boot camp they can recieve gifts and such. The reason is because the boot camp provides everything they need, food, uniforms for training, a gym, hygien items ect..they can recieve letters and pictures from home.

well im 15 years old and i need to figure out what i want for christmas along with what im going to get my mother and father and brother (23 years old) and sister (27 yrs old). im not allowed to play video games so i cant ask for that but any other gifts would be great! thank you! =)

Don't surprise her, she won't like it when her feet hurt. Take her to a good boot fitter and get him to size her up, she'll love her gift that much more when she can use it effectively.

The gifts are usually a type of major approval booster for the companion, and they are:

Cutscene Triggers:

Alistair's Mother's Locket
Who: Alistair (Obviously)
Where: Located in the Redcliff Castle Study

Duncan's Shield
Who: Alistair
Where: Located in the Warden's Cache in Denerim market. It is only available after you have escaped from Fort Drakon, and ONLY if you found and freed Riordan with the grey warden documents

Andraste's Grace (a Flower)
Who: Leliana
Where: There are three of these in the game. I think only the first will trigger a cutscene. One is by the Windmill in Redcliff, one is in the western Brecillian Forest, and one is located within the Alienage I believe in denerim.

Cute Nug
Who: Leliana
Where: This gift is a bit aggravating to get. It is "found" in Dust town in Orzammar. I believe you first have to complete the nug wrangler miniquest (but I could be mistaken). Either way Leliana must have higher approval and you must have her in orzammar and talk to her to get her to comment on the nugs. Then you need to speak to the idle dwarf and he will say he can catch one for you (for a price).

Black Grimoire
Who: Morrigan
Where: I believe it's found in the circle tower, though I can't remember where exactly.

Flemeth's Grimoire
Who: Morrigan
Where: Flemeth's hut. This only becomes available if Morrigan has fairly high approval. It's simpler to retrieve the black grimoire first in my opinion as she will ask you to get it for her otherwise before directing you to this one.

Asala (A Sword)
Who: Sten
Where: Technically located in Dwyn's House in Redcliff Village. This is one of the more convoluted gifts as it requires you to first gain Sten's approval enough that he will talk about why he killed the farmer's and what happened to his companions. After this you will have to go to Lake Calenhad and speak to a scavenger (standing very near the entrance) who will direct you to the frostback mountains where Feryn will be waiting. If you have Sten with you you can tell him to tear of Feryn's arms (he won't, but it's amusing conversation), and, after some similar persuasion, he will direct you to Dwyn in Redcliff. If you didn't save redcliff then it will be locked in a chest in hiw house. If you haven't saved it yet then I think Dwyn just gives it to you. If you DID save it then Dwyn will give it to you after some persuasion (you may have to bribe/threaten him, I cannot remember).

Antivan Leather Boots
Who: Zevran
Where: These are located in a locked chest in the village of haven shop

Dalish Gloves
Who: Zevran
Where: In the Brecillian Forest I believe

I can't remember any plot items for Oghren or Shale.

These are all the main cutscene gifts I remember. There are other gifts your companions will like a LOT, but will not trigger cutscenes.

Oh, there are so many things which a girlfriend can give a boyfriend. Let me give you some fun and interesting options:
â¢Clothes are the most basic thing which you can give. However if you find funky and different clothes, the boys are sure to love it. Last month I gave my boyfriend some hot clothes from http://www.become.com/fieldmaster-clothing and he just adored them
â¢Accessories like belts, shoes, cuff links, ties and others are a great option for guys who like to be chic and sophisticated
â¢What about pens? Some boys have a fetish for collecting them and using fancy ones too
â¢Something as uncommon as tickets for a basketball or baseball match. Trust me your boyfriend will love you more than he ever did
â¢Another great alternative would a sporty item if he is into sports

Husband serving overseas, wondering from a soldiers perspective what type of gifts to send?

My husband is a combat medic in Afghanistan, and I send him a care package about once a week. I have a few ideas from him for gifts for Christmas, although I am wondering from a soldiers perspective what type of items he may be suprised or happy to recieve?

I know being overseas for christmas is very tough, so I would like to make it somewhat special and put a smile on his face.

My husband is a combat medic in Afghanistan too!! I sent 2 packages today full of christmas decoration for him. I put an advent calendar in, a funny stocking for him, tons of garlen and lights. Stuff like that. He actually told me not to send him anything else since he doesn't want to have to leave anything behind. The decorations are fine since he can give them to the next group that comes, but as far as gifts he rather we just spend the money on something we might need when he gets home next spring. Another thing is he's a part of several adopt a soldier programs, and I know they are sending lots of packages too for the holidays. If you still think he might want something to open up on Christmas, look on sites like US Cav, and aafes for things that he could really use. Things that aren't normally in care packages that he has there now that might be worn out due to the deployment. (like his field cap, socks, etc) You could even ask him. I actually sent my guy a pair of new boots last time he was deployed over Christmas. He just told me his size, the style, etc and mailed it to him straight off the website. :) Good Luck!
